The prized Tontine Series will be held in Western Victoria throughout May and June.

The series caters for C2-C4 pacers and T0 or better trotters and offers over $120,000 in prizemoney.

Trainers and owners are advised of a change to the conditions of the pacers’ series this year. Put simply a horse is not required to contest both rounds of heats, however connections have the option to do so if they wish.

The pacers’ heats have been set down for the Hamilton @ Terang meeting on May 24 and the Geelong meeting on June 1.

Heats of the trotters’ series will be conducted at Stawell on May 31 with two or three heats to run dependant upon the number of acceptors.

The Tontine Series will culminate with a $30,000 pacers’ final and a $15,000 trotters’ final on June 17 at Ballarat. Both races will only carry a country penalty.

Following are the key details for the 2006 Tontine Series;

  • Two Semi-Finals of $6,500 each to be run at Horsham – June 8.
