INDUSTRY NOTICE

UFO EURO SULKY WHEELS:

Harness Racing Australia (HRA) has approved the use of the UFO Euro Sulky Wheel in racing and trial events, effective from 1 July 2014.

As part of the HRA approval process the sulky wheel has been tested for strength, durability and performance.  This testing is performed by Human Impact Engineering.  This sulky wheel has also been used in trials under the supervision of stewards.

These wheels conforms to all the requirements of the HRA Sulky Wheel Approval Policy and meets the HRA  Standards.

VIPA LEVEL 3 VEST APPROVAL:

HRA has approved the use of the VIPA Level 3 vest and this will be added to the website list of approved safety gear.  This is the only VIPA model of vest that is approved for use in Harness Racing and Trialing in Australia and is identified by a VIPA III logo.   Use of this vest is effective from 1 July 2014.

HRA takes the process of testing of new products very seriously as it impacts on the health and safety of all participants as well as the welfare of the racing horses.

HRA will continue to work with all manufacturers and distributors of gear and equipment to ensure that all new products meet the standards as set out by the industry.
