Shepparton – Tuesday, 17 February 2026
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: NUGGET ROGERS (3) is always popular with punters despite not visiting the winner’s circle since last July. Driver Nathan Jack gets on well with him and delivered a peach last week, only beaten by a horse in top form. From the favourable draw and trip he has the speed to control his options.
FRUGAL FARE (10) has mixed his form this preparation but finds a more suitable grade here compared to recent assignments. He has a strong strike rate with both the driver and at this track, and despite the tough draw over the distance commands respect. EDWARDE GRANGE (2) may represent value third up. He was quite good last time when unlucky with the map and found the line well. His best from this draw has him right in it. TEN DA TOUCH (9) is second-up from NZ for the new stable, didn’t have much luck last time and stays under notice.
BACK: NUGGET ROGERS (3) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: NUGGET ROGERS (3), FRUGAL FARE (10), EDWARDE GRANGE (2), TEN DA TOUCH (9)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: HEZ HARRYWHO (2) was very good last time second-up from a spell, sustaining a strong final mile after working into it from a backrow draw. He now draws to lead, and the extra distance should allow him to control the race without excessive pressure and prove hard to run down.
WINGATE GUY (4) has been racing in excellent form the past month, winning 3 from 6, and maps nicely to be in the finish again. RANDOM MAHONEY (3) beat them both home last week when sitting parked and has claims again from the draw. INTERPRETATION (11) has never gone better producing consistent efforts but faces another tough draw and is tempo dependent.
SELECTIONS: HEZ HARRYWHO (2), WINGATE GUY (4), RANDOM MAHONEY (3), INTERPRETATION (11)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: A tricky race to assess with varying formlines and some difficult trial form to line up, so a market lead will be crucial. REALLY SMARTIE (7) creates interest at his first run for the smart Taiba barn. He comes here off a Melton trial win where they didn’t run time but he won with authority.
BINALONG BAY (5) also won a Bacchus Marsh trial, and the time suggests he could be primed first up for the new stable. HOME AND DRY (8) has the exposed form to respect but faces a tricky draw. He was very good last week. WHATA OPTIMIST (11) brings Adelaide form which is difficult to assess, but as a 23-time winner is better credentialled than most of these.
SELECTIONS: REALLY SMARTIE (7), BINALONG BAY (5), HOME AND DRY (8), WHATA OPTIMIST (11)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: ALCATRAZ GIRL (5) is a sharp beginner and can lead from the draw over the short trip. She can mix her form but strikes a winnable race. Her times when leading are superior to most of these.
MYNAMEISRUBY (8) hasn’t had much luck with draws lately but continues to perform well. If she gets the breaks at the right time she can finish strongly. FEEL THE BUZZ (7) was unlucky last start and gets a junior claim which helps despite the awkward gate. THE ACCIDENTAL ONE (1) gets her chance to improve for the new stable from the soft draw but needs to lift on recent runs.
SELECTIONS: ALCATRAZ GIRL (5), MYNAMEISRUBY (8), FEEL THE BUZZ (7), THE ACCIDENTAL ONE (1)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: MI BOW (7) brings a different form reference to this race, whereas most clashed last week. Despite the wide draw she can be driven positively over the middle trip. She has gone close on multiple occasions, and this looks her best opportunity.
CRESCO CASHFLOW (9) has been consistent and goes to the backrow after racing tough on speed last time. FARSTAR (10) has been on his worst behaviour lately, but his prior form was solid and he’s in the mix if he trots cleanly. SAYAPRAYERFORME (6) broke stride last time but was sound on debut prior and may improve.
BACK: MI BOW (7) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: MI BOW (7), CRESCO CASHFLOW (9), FARSTAR (10), SAYAPRAYERFORME (6)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: AUSSIE JAY MAC (10) met with market support in two runs for the new stable last prep. He was fair first up before making an error and heading for a spell. His recent trial here suggests he’s forward enough and despite the awkward draw this is a winnable task.
CROCODILE BLOOD (1) is edging closer to a win and should lead and give plenty of cheek. OHANA BY THE SEA (4) has improved of late and maps well. SUMMER SCHOOL (7) has a tough draw but has been competitive in similar company.
BACK: AUSSIE JAY MAC (10) – 2.5 units (win)
SELECTIONS: AUSSIE JAY MAC (10), CROCODILE BLOOD (1), OHANA BY THE SEA (4), SUMMER SCHOOL (7)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: SHAQ (7) won from this draw in very good time two starts back when working forward and dominating. He was up in grade last time and ran well, so back to this opposition he will be hard to beat.
REALLY REALLY (9) has galloped his past two for the new stable but if he begins cleanly will be right in the finish. OUR MYSTERY BET (1) came through that same race and was one-paced, but his prior win at this track was strong. KRAKEY (5) led last week and ran well — a similar map keeps him competitive.
SELECTIONS: SHAQ (7), REALLY REALLY (9), OUR MYSTERY BET (1), KRAKEY (5)
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (6) had no luck last week, caught wide throughout and was entitled to tire despite starting a short-priced favourite. She drops back to mares grade here and the extra distance suits. This looks an ideal bounce-back scenario.
LINE UP JACQUIE (4) was strong at Charlton sustaining a run before being run down late. A repeat keeps her in contention. FINAL BOW (8) was held up last start and maps for a soft run. WINSUM BELLA (3) maps well and is better suited in this grade.
BACK: IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (6) – 2.5 units (win)
SELECTIONS: IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (6), LINE UP JACQUIE (4), FINAL BOW (8), WINSUM BELLA (3)
Race 9:
OVERVIEW: CALIVIL (9) had been well supported in two runs before delivering last week, running away from them in good time. This is tougher but with the right tempo he can finish strongly again.
BYRNESIDE BOOM (1) is second-up and will likely press for the lead. If he finds it he’ll be hard to run down with added fitness. IMA TIGGY TIGER (3) ripped home off a slow speed during the week and shouldn’t be far away again. LUVERBOY (8) maps for an economical run and will be there if the breaks come.
SELECTIONS: CALIVIL (9), BYRNESIDE BOOM (1), IMA TIGGY TIGER (3), LUVERBOY (8)
