Queensland’s harness racing industry will once again come together to raise funds for ovarian and gynaecological cancer research as part of the 2026 Team Teal campaign.
Running from February 1 until March 15, the campaign will see the Queensland harness racing industry donate $200 for every race won by a reinswoman in the Sunshine State.
All Queensland reinswomen will wear teal pants to raise awareness for the cause.
Paige Bevan and Taleah McMullen have been announced as Queensland’s 2026 Team Teal ambassadors, joining reinswomen from around Australia and New Zealand in supporting the important cause.
In 2025, Queensland’s female harness racing drivers raised $7,600 for Team Teal, with McMullen finishing in equal second on the leaderboard with eight wins.
The driver has also tasted success in the Team Teal Female Drivers Invitation race in previous years, taking out the event on the Doug Hewitt-trained Infinity Beach in 2024.
Last year, it was Jordan Topping who claimed the win in the Team Teal Female Drivers Invitation race with the Graham Dwyer-trained Misstrepo.
The Team Teal campaign was created by Duncan McPherson OAM, who lost his wife Lyn to ovarian cancer in 2010.
Mr McPherson co-founded the campaign with fellow harness owners and trainers Michael Taranto and Jim Connelly as a way to associate their passion of racing with the cause to fund clinical research nurses.
In conjunction with WomenCan, Team Teal donations will support the Australian and New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group’s Survivors Teaching Students program.
The program educates future medical professionals to improve the diagnosis and care of women with gynaecological cancer.
