STEWARDS REPORT
Offices of the Queensland Harness Racing Board - Monday 25 June 2007
Stewards today questioned trainer Mr Darren Hooper and registered owner Mr Craig Whiteoak into the recent publication on the “Trading Ring” on the Harness Racing in Australia Web Site. This advertisement was for the sale of the standardbred gelding MELTON BONFURY.
After taking evidence from trainer Mr Hooper in relation to this published advertisement, Stewards were unable to contribute any blame to him, however, Mr Hooper was informed that in future when being involved in the sale of any horses he should make sure any particulars pertaining to himself are true and correct and more importantly, proof read prior to publication.
After taking further evidence from Mr Whiteoak, Stewards charged him and found him guilty under the provisions of Rule 243 which reads-
“A person employed, engaged or participating in the harness racing industry shall not behave in a way which is detrimental to the industry.”
The particulars of the charge being that the advertisement placed on the “Trading Ring” website was detrimental to the harness racing industry.
Mr Whiteoak was fined the sum of $1000.
When considering penalty, Stewards took into account his previous good record and his forthright evidence in relation to this matter.

Chairman
