HRA Globe Derby Award Winners Announced

Harness Racing Australia (HRA) are pleased to announce the 2022 Globe Derby Awards – proudly sponsored by IRT.

The Globe Derby Awards celebrate the sports leading Sires.

Bettors Delight USA continued his siring dominance in winning his eleventh consecutive leading sire by stakemoney award with his progeny earning stakemoney of $13,481,470 His outstanding progeny in 2022 included the three time Derby winner Leap To Fame ($451,231) and the undefeated two year old filly Major Delight ($375,179).

For the seventh consecutive season, Bettors Delight USA was also the leading sire of winners (404). He was also the leading sire of three year olds by stakemoney and winners, and for the first time was the leading broodmare sire by winners.  

For the first time, Captaintreacherous (US) was the leading juvenile sire with his two and three year olds earning $3,354,829 highlighted by star fillies Jewel Melody ($317,094) and Encipher ($253,141), as well as the outstanding colts and geldings in Catch A Wave ($193,980) and School Captain ($180,400).

Woodlands Stud sire Sweet Lou USA also took out his first two year old by winners title with fifty winners headlined by the star Western Australians in Never Ending ($274,485) and Zephyra ($204,709).

The Alabar Farms stallion Majestic Son CA was once again the Leading Trotting Sire by Stakemoney for the seventh year running. Progeny by Majestic Son CA won a total of $3,068.573 highlighted by the Great Southern Star winner Majestuoso NZ ($395,310) and Breeders Crown winner Harry Stamper NZ ($101,020).
