POSITIVE SWAB INQUIRY – “DOUG BROMAC”

 

 

 

 

The Major Inquiry Steward has concluded an Inquiry in relation to a positive swab from “Doug Bromac” which competed at Harold Park on 1 September 2006.

 

Trainer Martin Herbert and Ashley Green, the person in charge of the horse that afternoon and evening, were both found guilty of a charge under Rule 190 (1) in that they presented

“Doug Bromac” for the Harold Park meeting other than free of prohibited substances.

 

The pre race blood sample taken from “Doug Bromac” returned, on confirmatory analysis, positive to Total Carbon Dioxide (TC02) in excess of the allowable threshold.

 

After taking submissions on penalty, in the special circumstances of this case Trainer Martin Herbert was fined $8,000.

 

Ashley Green was disqualified for eight (8) months.

 

“Doug Bromac” was disqualified from the race.

 

Ashley Green has lodged an appeal with the Greyhound and Harness Racing Appeal Tribunal.
