Form Analysis by Braden Howlett for Tasracing

Race 1

Over the mile distance, ROCKY STRIDE (1) gets back to a nice draw, after handy efforts from back in the field his past couple runs. He looks to get his chance leading or at worst using the sprint lane behind LUVTHAT (2) who has good gate speed and been very consistent without winning of late. LUVATINNY (4) brings good Victorian form over and Jordy has opted to take the drive, over stablemate OZZIE PEARL (5) who broke her maiden last start finally, albeit in the stewards room, but has an awkward draw here. All horses in the field have winning form but leaning towards those on speed from a good gate, with MUZZAME MATE (9) a chance from the nice trailing draw if the speed is on.

Selections ROCKY STRIDE (1), LUVATINNY (4), MUZZAMEMATE (9), LUVTHAT (2)

Race 2

AMERICAN COWGIRL (3) is well bred and has trialled twice, with the first beating horses who have since won or would be favourite here. She may take beating with natural improvement, likewise EVERYTHING BUT THE (5) who showed some ability last start when doing work early, before he broke on the home turn when looming to win, but still got back pacing again to hold on for 2nd. MY FATAL CHARM (6) and HAMMERING SEAS (7) bring 2yo maiden form from last season, which looks stronger than these older maidens have been racing, although having awkward draws. VOODOO RANGER (2) resumes from a let up from a nice draw and has racing consistently and should go close again.

Selections EVERYTHING BUT THE (5), AMERICAN COWGIRL (3), VOODOO RANGER (2), HAMMERING SEAS (7)

Race 3

Most horses on the front row have some gate speed here, so they may run along early especially over the short distance. HARBOUR SPRINGS (1) was beaten a long way in a 3yo sires heat but her interstate form prior would have her going close here from the nice draw, and has since won a trial. STEPUPNDANCE (3) is a consistent type and will be on speed, whilst JEREMY WELLS (10) again gets a nice trailing draw and will be looming to win if they do go hard early. LOYOLA TRIOS (12) had no luck last start and GOBSMACKED (13) both draw the grandstand but will be running home well. SHALLOW BEACH (7) was well supported first up in the state but was disappointing, but has since trialled okay again since.

Selections HARBOUR SPRINGS (1), JEREMY WELLS (10), GOBSMACKED (13), SHALLOW BEACH (7).

Race 4

OZZIE CORKA (8) has been very impressive since arriving in the state but draws the inside back row here. I’m leaning to the option that Jordy will restrain off the gate, instead of following through in behind MAJOR DAVVIN (1) who finally gets back to a nice draw from the mobile. He has great gate speed but so does WILL HE PIKE (2) who is going much better than his form shows. ROCK ON PLAYBOY (9) should position handy from a nice trailing draw, whilst SHOEBEES SPIRIT (4) and FLEETWOOD ROCK (5) will be hoping they can slot in by the first corner which would greatly improve their chances from the awkward draw. A very open race where every horse has a chance to finish in the top 3 with some luck in running.

Selections OZZIE CORKA (8), WILL HE PIKE (2), ROCK ON PLAYBOY (9), SHOEBEES SPIRIT (4)

Race 5

The Open class pacers come together, which being drawn by their NR rating really makes it an open affair. There looks to be good speed on early, which should allow the better class horses off the back row to get their chance. MAGNETIC TERROR (12) was back to his best last week with a commanding victory, and will be hoping to get a nice cart into the race, as will THE SHALLOWS (11) who ran a terrific 2nd in the Danbury Park Cup last start. MAGICIAN (10) is the class horse and resumes off 2 trials, would think he may need the run but cant dismiss him, whilst stablemate STAR MAJOR (13) draws the grandstand but will no doubt run another honest race. STEPPING STONES (8) is racing well and will be relying on some luck going her way to be in the finish.

Selections THE SHALLOWS (11), MAGICIAN (10), MAGNETIC TERROR (12), STEPPING STONES (8).

Race 6

The Mares Discretionary over 2579m is an intriguing race, where the high class mares have been handicapped quite significantly. In saying that, I still think they can run the trifecta if they step away safely. NOVA BAXTER (6)  gets in well off 20m considering the backmarkers cop 40m, and that may be the difference in her having the most gas left in the tank with 200m to go. SABINE (8) has gone to another level this preparation, especially in her stamina which she’ll need to have here. ZARA TINDALL (7) is the other class runner but I have her suspect over the longer trip and back mark. ASHANTE QUEEN (4) will be suited by the longer distance if Dylan is able to get her away safely, and looks the best of the front row horses.

Selections  NOVA BAXTER (6), SABINE (8), ZARA TINDALL (7), ASHANTE QUEEN (4)

Race 7

Looks to be good speed on here early, where RESURGENT WARRIOR (5) can fly the gate when asked, and was an improved 2nd last start. If he was able to get across he will show some cheek, but would expect KIAVINO STRIDE (2) to ensure the tempo is strong throughout. CEE TEE CHELSEA (3) draws to get a nice sit on speed, as does DAZZLE ME (1) who was an improved effort last start at Burnie. Back row horses led by MONEYS NO ISSUE (12) and DONNY IN PARIS (9) will be relying on good speed throughout to get into the race, whilst ROLLWITHARTY (10) has had a stable change and should appreciate getting away from the tight Burnie circuit where he has been disappointing of late. COOLANDCOLLECT (8) was spotted hitting the line well last start, whilst TULLAH GIR (11) L hasn’t had too much luck of late.

Selections  MONEYS NO ISSUE (12), RESURGENT WARRIOR (5), DONNY IN PARIS (9), COOLANDCOLLECT (8)

Race 8

SIR NIPPA (4) arrives from Victoria with some handy winning form and should be hard to beat. His chances would improve even more if IMPERIAL LAZ (2) was able to cross the (1) as he normally hands up, however PHOTO FIRST (1) will be burying through hard early along the pegs to hold him out. DIDYALOUSAROOSTA (5) got back in the winners circle last start but cops an awkward draw. The back row runners will be relying on the favoured front row horses going hard early, where POWER UP (10) can unleash a fast finish if held up till late, as can ROCKS ROY (12) who will be running home strong as usual.

Selections SIR NIPPA (4), POWER UP (10),  PHOTO FIRST (1), IMPERIAL LAZ (2)
