Hobart, Sunday 15 March

Race 1

IAMAHUNTER (1) has been racing well as he works through his grades and arguably brings the most upside into this contest. NATIONAL NEWS (3) was going better than his form suggested prior to his last start second and can be competitive again here with the right run. HAMMER DAN (4) gets his chance back in grade and if anywhere near his best, he would take some beating in this field. ROCK ON PLAYBOY (5) and MAJOR LESTER (6) have been struggling somewhat of late but can earn prize money in this small line-up, while SPORTZSILK (2) is racing slightly out of his depth but does draw favourably.

Selections HAMMER DAN (4), IAMAHUNTER (1), NATIONAL NEWS (3), ROCK ON PLAYBOY (5)

Race 2

MILLYCENT (4) looks hard to beat in this small field. She has been racing consistently without breaking through and gets a good opportunity here. PHLOW JO (9) produced her best manners last week when finishing an encouraging second and a repeat performance would see her right in the finish again. OHANA BY THE SEA (6) drew awkwardly first up in the state but still ran well and should be finishing strongly. BACKTALK (2) has been steadily improving at the trials and from the favourable draw gets his chance. The Brian Mackrill-trained pair HES FIRST CLASS (3) and HARLEY GLENWOOD (7) look the next best of the remainder.

Selections MILLYCENT (4), PHLOW JO (9), OHANA BY THE SEA (6), BACKTALK (2)

Race 3

SHES ALLABOUTLUV (2) was narrowly defeated last week when second in an extremely fast last quarter. She draws ideally to settle handy and make her move at the right time. There appears to be solid early speed engaged, with REPETITIVE (5) and SWEET DIXIE (1) both capable of firing out and likely to contest the lead over the short trip. HARBOUR SPRINGS (3) chases a hat-trick after two very good wins in handy time and will again be prominent. ROLLWITHARTY (4) may press forward early and has been racing consistently, while those drawn wider and on the back row will rely on genuine tempo throughout to bring them into the race.

Selections SHES ALLABOUTLUV (2), HARBOUR SPRINGS (3), REPETITIVE (5), SWEET DIXIE (1)

Race 4

IMPERIAL LAZ (5) has been racing superbly of late and with his sharp gate speed will go forward in search of the front over the short trip. There is speed drawn inside him with THEE OLD BOMB (3), who may look to hand up, while MY WAY (4) is also expected to kick through early. MR BONDI (9) is a consistent type and the trailing draw should suit, particularly after doing plenty of work in recent outings. CUZZY BRO (10) will be hoping for genuine tempo up front to allow him to work into the race late. ALWAYS AURORA (2) rises in class but winning form cannot be overlooked and she should settle handy. CUSTOM HARLEY (7) may well be the best runner in the field but faces a difficult task from the wide draw over the short distance.

Selections IMPERIAL LAZ (5), MY WAY (4), MR BONDI (9), ALWAYS AURORA (2)

Race 5

ANGELSHAVTIME (2) looks set to press forward and attempt to cross to the pegs over the mile in what shapes as an extremely even contest. There does not appear to be a great deal of sharp gate speed engaged, which makes the early map intriguing, aside from KIAVINO STRIDE (7), who may be launched early and could improve over the mile if able to settle on speed. SUE NIEN (6) may also press forward from the wider draw, as could ASHANTE QUEEN (5) in search of a prominent position. AURORA REASON (4) profiles as the current improver and if she can reproduce her previous preparation’s mile form, she would be a major factor. It would not surprise to see any of these runners salute, including MONEYS NO ISSUE (1), who finally draws more favourably and can improve sharply, and NORBET (10) who is racing well.

Selections ANGELSHAVTIME (2), AURORA REASON (4), MONEYS NO ISSUE (1), SUE NIEN (6)

Race 6

OH NO NEVER AGAIN (4) worked to the front off IM A CAESAR (1) last start and was dominant thereafter. A similar pattern could unfold here and if he finds the lead again, he will take beating. NO NUKES SKIPPER (8) should enjoy a soft pegs run and looks set to get his chance to run into the placings. It would not surprise to see others feature in the first four, including EVERYTHING BUT THE (9), who can be in the finish if on his best behaviour.

Selections OH NO NEVER AGAIN (4), IM A CAESAR (1), NO NUKES SKIPPER (8), EVERYTHING BUT THE (9)
