Race 1:

OVERVIEW: CHEERS POVERTY (6) showed brilliant gate speed to lead and dominated his rivals to win in a slick mile rate of 1.56.8 last week. This is a field of similar standard and he should prove hard to beat again despite the wide draw. ROYAL SAXON (2) convincingly defeated CHEERS POVERTY (6) twice in succession prior to finishing third behind him last week after racing without cover throughout. He is a fast beginner and is perfectly drawn so he might be able to get back into winning form. HOOKLINEANDSINKER (5) began well and gained the perfect trail behind the leader but he was held up for a run at a vital stage before working home strongly for an unlucky third last week. He led when runner up in both of his performances prior and should give another forward showing. Both GOOD BOOTS BINDI (10) and CAULONIA TERROR (11) will appreciate a slight drop back in this class for this assignment and are not without a chance.

SELECTIONS: CHEERS POVERTY (6), ROYAL SAXON (2), HOOKLINEANDSINKER (5), CAULONIA TERROR (11)

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: WICKED CONFESSION (9) delivered clearly a career best performance to win at Mildura last week, where she led, got attacked and kept on running to win by 66m! That was her first placed effort in five starts and this is a much harder field but the time of 1.57.4 (2190m) in which she recorded, would be more than competitive in this event. OUR MASTER PLAY (6) progressed forward from the second line to park without cover and battled late when fifth last week. He was a winner under similar conditions on December 30 and he has the ability to figure in the finish. CALF PEN (7) broke stride shortly after the start when unplaced last outing and was stood down to trial. He won a trial by a comfortable margin last week so he is capable of bouncing back into peak form here. ESCOBAR (3) ran a better race last week and has claims along with RUBBLEONTHEDOUBLE (5).

SELECTIONS: WICKED CONFESSION (9), OUR MASTER PLAY (6), CALF PEN (7), ESCOBAR (3)

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (8) makes his debut for the season after a brilliant opening season of racing, which yielded six victories, three of them in mile rates of sub 1.55.0 and he also ran second in the South Australian Derby. He comfortably won a trial at Mildura last week and should have another prosperous campaign. JAXON BEACH (9) has been placed at his past four starts against slightly stronger opposition and should be competitive again. He attempted to lead throughout when third behind Dhaulagiri at Mildura last week. MY ULTIMATE BILLY (6) competed at Metropolitan level last outing and was third in a strong race at Globe Derby prior. This race is slightly easier and he should go well despite the wide draw. GO AWAY AGAIN (3) is a short course specialist and races best when he is able to lead so he appears to be suited under these conditions.

SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (8), JAXON BEACH (9), MY ULTIMATE BILLY (6), GO AWAY AGAIN (3)

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: GLITZY ALL OVER (5) gained the perfect trip behind the leader but there was a lot to like about the way she hit the line when she scored at Mildura last week. This race is no harder and she looms as a strong winning chance again. THE DEVIL ROLLS ON (8) finished unplaced last week but the time was fast and this race appears to be more suitable. She was a strong winner at Charlton on January 19 and she should gain an economical run from the trailing draw. DIAMOND KRUSHER (4) is racing in career best form and did well when coming from midfield at her latest third. She won by a large margin on February 04 and must be included amongst the leading chances again. DAYSIE BROWN (3) sustained a flat tyre and failed to finish last outing. She is better than her form reads and is a possible improver from her good draw.

SELECTIONS: GLITZY ALL OVER (5), THE DEVIL ROLLS ON (8), DIAMOND KRUSHER (4), DAYSIE BROWN (3)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: NEVS DREAM (4) showed brilliant gate speed to lead from a similar draw last week and was only run down in the final 50m when second behind Glitzy All Over. He should find the lead again and is capable of going one better now. KEAYANG CRIPPA (3) trailed the leader early, moved off the inside to race without cover at the 1700m and ended up being in the one out and one back trail when a creditable fourth last week. He led when a close second behind Rojenbye prior and should be competitive again. INDIANAS SON (8) led throughout at a Mildura victory four starts ago and finished solidly for second behind Apology Accepted on February 11. He is racing in good form and is worth an investment. HESASTAR (5) did plenty of work in the run when eighth last week but his overall form is strong and he is worth another chance. BEARTASTIC WRITER (1) has had a lot of chances since his latest victory but he is drawn to suit his racing pattern.

SELECTIONS: NEVS DREAM (4), KEAYANG CRIPPA (3), INDIANAS SON (8), HESASTAR (5)

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: STAY CLEAN (3) raced fiercely in the lead and faded into ninth when on debut. She has since joined trainer Alex Ashwood and she strikes a suitable assignment first up so an improved effort is expected. THE NINJA (8) raced on the outside of the leader throughout, pulled hard and finished a distant second behind Wicked Confession in fast time last week. He has been placed at his past five starts against similar opposition and deserves to break through for a win. ITSALLGEE (2) went hard early but couldn’t get across to the markers and tired badly at the end when a distant seventh at her Mildura debut. She finished third at a Mildura trial performance last week and she is lightly raced so she might be able to show improvement. ELISSAS DELIGHT (4), BRIEISBETTER (5) and DON KATTERZ (9) are all worth thought in multiple combinations.

SELECTIONS: STAY CLEAN (3), THE NINJA (8), ITSALLGEE (2), DON KATTERZ (9)
