Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:
OVERVIEW: QUICK DECISION (1) was slow to begin and settled four back on the markers when a fast finishing third behind Too The Max at Terang. She won at Stawell prior and should be finishing off strongly with her expected economical run on the markers. DOUGS TRIBE (5) has been lightly raced recently but is the class runner of the field. He began quickly but broke stride on the first turn and lost his chance last outing. He attempted to lead throughout when a close second at a Geelong trial effort on Monday night. HUXHAM CHUBB (7) trailed the leader, used the sprint lane and finished off best to win at Terang last outing. She is versatile and is racing consistently so she is worth thought again. OPTIMAL (6) worked home nicely through the middle when second at Charlton last outing and is a place chance again.
SELECTIONS: QUICK DECISION (1), DOUGS TRIBE (5), HUXHAM CHUBB (7), OPTIMAL (6)
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: OOH AH LISTAH (8) will appreciate his easiest assignment for a very long time and should prove hard to beat. His second placed effort behind Soho Darknstormy at Melton on January 23 in a slick mile rate of 1.53.5 is a very good form reference for this event. LITTLEBLABBAMOUTH (2) is working back to her peak form with a close second after leading at Stawell followed by a second in a mile of 1.55.5 at Charlton last week. She is ideally drawn and should give a forward showing. PRESIDENTIALCHANGE (4) began quickly to lead and was run down late when a creditable second behind Huxham Chubb last outing. He is racing in good form and is worth thought again. STARZINHEREYES (7) possesses early speed and scored at Cranbourne three starts ago. She is worth thought in multiple combinations.
BACK: OOH AH LISTAH (8) – 1.5 units (each way)
SELECTIONS: OOH AH LISTAH (8), LITTLEBLABBAMOUTH (2), PRESIDENTIALCHANGE (4), STARZINHEREYES (7)
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: MISTER AMERICANO (8) will appreciate a massive drop back in class for this assignment considering he went from the Super Series to the Breeders Crown then followed with a third in the Reg Withers Classic and a fourth in the Caduceus Classic. He finished off quickly behind Brooklyn Dan at his latest attempt and he will take tossing here. SPOOK CROCKER (7) has been racing in fine form at Mount Gambier. He settled seventh on the markers, angled out five horses wide at the 300m mark and finished off fast when a big winner last outing so he is not to be underestimated. WE FAVOUR ROSIE (4) progressed forward to find the lead and won softly at Mount Gambier last outing. She is an honest mare and is worth thought again. CAPTAIN WILSON (2) is likely to try and lead out then take cover from his good draw. He is better than his form reads and is a possible improver.
BACK: MISTER AMERICANO (8) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: MISTER AMERICANO (8), SPOOK CROCKER (7), WE FAVOUR ROSIE (4), CAPTAIN WILSON (2)
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: EYENEEDTHAT (2) competed in the Breeders Crown Final won by the top pacer Loucasso then followed with a fifth in the Caduceus Classic. The performance of Mister Americano in Race 3 should be a very good reference to his chances as their form-line is very similar. THE STEEL DRAGON (6) was caught wide early, restrained to a rearward position and finished off well late when a game third behind Hittheroadjack then followed with his second placed effort at Ballarat on Thursday night. WILD BULL (7) is also backing up quickly from his brave effort at Ballarat, where third in fast time and should be very competitive again. He led throughout when a big winner in a slick mile rate of 1.55.3 at Stawell on February 09. EASTBRO KOZZY (1) and TORQUE POWER (5) are both minor place hopes in a quality field.
SELECTIONS: EYENEEDTHAT (2), THE STEEL DRAGON (6), WILD BULL (7), TORQUE POWER (5)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: OUT TO STAY (5) will be another pacer that will be strongly fancied after competing in the aged classics with his latest performance being an eighth in the Caduceus Classic. He is a tough type and is likely to be competitive under these conditions. KEAYANG SIMBA (3) left a trailing position to move up without cover mid-race when a big winner on debut at Terang. He should have benefited from the experience and looms as one of the main chances again. HAPPENSTOBEABEACHBOY (7) won two races towards the end of last season and endured a tough run when a brave second in a mile rate of 1.56.8 at Terang. He is backing up quickly from his unplaced effort at Ballarat on Thursday but he must be respected. ANOTHER WOODS (9) is rising in class from his debut victory at Mount Gambier but he sustained a long run from well back so he cannot be underestimated.
BACK: OUT TO STAY (5) – 3 units (win)
SELECTIONS: OUT TO STAY (5), KEAYANG SIMBA (3), HAPPENSTOBEBEACHBOY (7), ANOTHER WOODS (9)
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: CASE FORTY-EIGHT (9) commenced from the outside of the second line, was driven aggressively to push forward and race without cover then battled on bravely for second at Mount Gambier last week. He is racing in peak form and is capable of overcoming the poor draw. CALEDONIAN TERRA (4) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off nicely for third at Terang when making his debut for trainer Matthew Craven. He backed up with a victory at Mount Gambier, where he set up a genuine tempo in the lead and he must be considered as a winning chance again. PRETTY BASIC (2) has been placed in two of his past three starts and is a good chance of ending up being behind leader from his good draw. He should run his usual honest race. TUKURUA (7) was shuffled back on the markers after commencing from the inside of the second line and had little luck in the straight when seventh at Terang. Her three efforts prior were sound so she is worth another chance.
SELECTIONS: CASE FORTY-EIGHT (9), CALEDONIAN TERRA (4), PRETTY BASIC (2), TUKURUA (7)
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: MAJOR ROY (1) is still learning but is showing a lot of potential and deserves to break through for a win. He tried to make ground out wide on the track, hung out badly on the home turn and cost himself victory when a close up third at Charlton last week. KEAYANG ALABAMA (2) attempted to lead throughout and copped some pressure mid-race when a brave second behind Pricilla at his debut. He is ideally drawn and is a good chance of going one better now. COLOSIMO (3) was headed off at the start and was shuffled back on the markers when a handy finishing third at his debut. He has ability and is worth following. DECODE (5) led out then took cover when second on debut. He has claims along with LOAN SAILOR (9).
BACK: MAJOR ROY (1) – 1 unit (win)
SELECTIONS: MAJOR ROY (1), KEAYANG ALABAMA (2), COLOSIMO (3), DECODE (5)
