Race 1
WAZZA (3) looks like he could work his way to the lead, with a front row with no obvious fast gate speed horses. If that did occur, I cant see a whole lot pressure mid race so he should get every chance. WINDY HANOVER (7) has been slow away from the stand start both times this prep, but has still gone well enough that if he got the right run here, he should be close enough at the finish. NEON (6) won the St Marys Cup after a nice run in transit, narrowly defeating Wazza, whilst DEMAND RESPECT (8) has been a black booker his last couple starts, and will be looming with some luck in running. JILLIBY MENDOZA (2) was well graded to win last start, and ROCKNALLOVERTHEWORLD (5) is first up and has strong metro form in Victoria, but both trials since in state have been only fair.
Selections WAZZA (3), DEMAND RESPECT (8), WINDY HANOVER (7), NEON (6)
Race 2
Expecting OH NO NEVER AGAIN (5) to use his customary gate speed and most likely find the lead, unless HOWSWEETTHESOUND (3) got back to his form where he won consecutive races a few starts back, but has since misbehaved and form tapered off. TOP HANOVER (7) ran an improved race at Burnie in the death seat, and has since had a stable change, but the outside gate hurts his chances. DEBT TILL WE PART (12) has been making good ground of late from back in the field and will be looking to do the same here, whilst RANIERI (13) is a consistent type but will no doubt head for the pegs and hope gaps appear. COLBY ART (10) and MIDNIGHT DANCER (9) get back row trailing draws and might be able to run into the placings if there’s some tempo up front.
Selections OH NO NEVER AGAIN (5), DEBT WILL WE PART (12), HOWSWEETTHESOUND (3), TOP HANOVER (7)
Race 3
Not much has gone right for SHOEBEES SPIRIT (2) of late, but another nice draw should have him settle better than midfield and looming late with a good run in transit. ARMA ROLLING STONE (6) gets back to a front row draw so would expect him to roll forward and make it an evenly run race, where MY BAD (1) and JILLIBY JAY SEA (4) look the ones with the most gate speed from the front row. MONEYS NO ISSUE (8) may be better suited driven for luck and could be in finish if gaps appear in a truly run race, with ANDAMAN BAY (11) and DONE WELL (7) also in a similar position , whilst THE VIXEN (9) looks to get her chance to run an improved race from the draw.
Selections SHOEBEES SPIRIT (2), MY BAD (1), MONEY NO ISSUE (8), ARMA ROLLING STONE (6)
Race 4
Stand start with 3 runners off the front row, but some very fast beginners off the 10m in IMPERIAL LAZ (4) who was dominant last time winning easily, and GOODTIME OSCAR (6) who is going for 6 straight wins, after dominating the country circuit of late with his good manners from the tapes. ROCKS ROY (5) past 2 runs have been super behind horses who would start very short in this field, so any luck in running should have him looming late to the finish. FLEETWOOD ROCK (9) is the class runner of the field and recent New Norfolk cup winner, and will be suited by the smaller 9 horse field, and may be able to position midfield not long after the start if he begins like he normally does. The 3 front row horses are probably a class below those behind them, but the advantage will help them finish in a top 4 spot with a safe beginning, where HURRIANCE ROCK (2) may run a race at odds.
Selections FLEETWOOD ROCK (9), IMPERIAL LAZ (4), ROCKS ROY (5), GOODTIME OSCAR (6)
Race 5
LUVTHAT (3) yet again gets his chance to lead over the mile and get a deserved win, but he had every chance again last start so its hard to be tipping into him again. HIGH ACHIEVER (6) comes from Victoria and has handy gate speed, and she looks an improving type, and may control the tempo of the race from the breeze. ANGEL ROCKS (9) showed a sharp sprint to win on debut, before climbing backs the whole home straight since. She can win if she was able to position closely enough, but that may be determined by how the outsider (2) comes out of the gate. SPORTS WATCHER (1) gets the plum draw to sit leaders back over the short trip which will help her chances to earn a cheque, whilst EVERYTHING BUT THE (5) can be running home if he behaved, as well as BARBETTE (7) who is going better than her form suggests.
Selections HIGH ACHIEVER (6), LUVTHAT (3), ANGEL ROCKS (9), EVERYTHING BUT THE (5)
Race 6
NIKITA JO (1) gets the pole draw and has shown more ability her past few runs since a let up, leading to a win and good 2nd last start. She has enough speed to hold a forward position and be in the finish, as does ITSMENOTU (4) who brings the strongest form to the race, but will either need to find the front or get some cover to be winning. The other stablemate in TWLIGHT BEACH (9) is the only other who somewhat has winning or some consistent form in the race, and looks to get a nice trailing draw behind a fast beginner in IDEN REGAL WAVE (2), who could run a cheeky race at odds. SPOOKY GIRL (8) will get a cosy pegs run which suits her, whilst LALIBELA (10) won at Burnie 2 starts back, before doing things wrong at Carrick since.
Selections NIKITA JO (1), ITSMENOTU (4), TWILIGHT BEACH (9), IDEN REGAL WAVE (2)
Race 7
An even front row over the mile, where MISTA EAGLE (6) might come out hard for the first 100, over his preferred distance. STIR ME UP (5) was too tough 2 starts back at the same track and distance after being 3 wide the first 600m, and will most likely look to do the same again here. ROCK ON PLAYBOY (7) drops in class with the concession claim, but will be reliant on some speed on early, as will POWER UP (8) who gets back to the mobile start, and has been running good races after beginning badly from the stands the past few starts. DIAMONDSNBLUE (4) will be hoping to slot in, and could be dangerous late if at her best, whilst ALWAYS AURORA (3) will appreciate a better draw and position closer in the run than he has recently.
Selections STIR ME UP (5), MISTA EAGLE (6), POWER UP (8), ALWAYS AURORA (3)
Race 8
I GOTTA GO (3) held the front and was able to dictate in a very slow middle half to break his maiden last week. Think he has enough speed to cross to the lead over the mile here, and looks to get his chance to notch up another victory. Stablemates STEPUPNDANCE (4) and HEY FRANCO (6) both have good gate speed and look the dangers, whilst MILLYCENT (8) was plunged first up when making good ground from the back, before galloping out last start, so if she behaved, she could well be the one finishing strongly. MARV DREAMING (5) broke her maiden finally last week, and will be relying on some good tempo up front to allow her to get into the finish from the awkward draw. Hard to recommend others as winning chances off their current form.
Selections I GOTTA GO (3), MILLYCENT (8), HEY FRANCO (6), STEPUPNDANCE (4)
