Carrick, Sunday 25 January

Race 1

I GOTTA GO (1) looks the one to beat from the pole draw and should have sufficient gate speed to hold the front. He lost the race in stewards room first up at Carrick, before getting beaten at a short price when wide early last start. MY FATAL CHARM (3) may have a look early, and will no doubt run another honest race attempting to break her maiden, whilst WINNING BREW (4) raced greenly in the above Carrick race which they all competed in, but made up some nice ground late. With natural improvement,  he will be running home well again and could be the danger. WEE GEORGIE WOOD (2) is first up in the state and ran 2nd in a trial Monday, and has showed some ability at his few starts in Victoria. HARLEY GLENWOOD (5) and REID GRANT(6) are on debut and make up the rest of field, but would need to improve off their recent trial form to be in the finish here.

Selections I GOTTA GO (1), WEE GEORGIE WOOD (2), WINNING BREW (4), MY FATAL CHARM (3),

Race 2

JILLIBY MENDOZA (6) strikes the easiest race she’s contested in a while, and with the home track advantage, she could take some holding out late. The rest of the field is an even bunch of lower graded horses compared to the (6), led by FAR LEFT FLETCH (2) who is the less experienced of the field but is progressing through her classes well with natural improvement. KOSTYUK LEIS (3) has showed ability at times but has been hit and miss of late, but if able was to cross to the lead, she may take some running down. BARNY BILL (4) and MIKI SANZ (5) are consistent types without winning often, and would be suited if there happened to be some speed on in the race, whilst CANNON BEACH (1) would need to improve his race manners to run into the placings.

Selections JILLIBY MENDOZA (6), FAR LEFT FLETCH (2), KOSTYUK LEIS (3), BARNY BILL (4)

Race 3

BEACH DANCER (7) draws an awkward gate, but over the middle trip and his class, would think he may be too strong for these. SIR NIPPA (1) gets his chance to return to form from the pole, and should be able to hold the front early, and looks the main danger to the favourite if he brought his best. ROCKS ROY (8) and STIR ME UP (9) are consistent types with back row trailing draws to run into the top 4 or placings, whilst SUE NIEN (2) was too bad to be true last week, but gets her chance to most likely drop leaders back early. The rest of field is quite even, where DEFENCE ATTORNEY (4) draws the best and may push forward early and hope he gets some cover.

Selections BEACH DANCER (7), SIR NIPPA (1), ROCKS ROY (8), STIR ME UP (9)

Race 4

A tough maiden to assess with not much form to go off, especially off the front row. MARV DREAMING (10) brings the best numerical form, and has steadily been improving this time in, after showing some ability early in her career. If she could get a nice cart into the race, she could take holding out late. BROADWAY BLING (6) has an awkward gate but could push forward, and may look the winner at some point if he got some cover in the run. MY BEAUTIFUL LIFE (5) won a trial at Carrick earlier this week, she’s a 13 start maiden but we often see such Victoria form winning here quickly, which may be the case again here.  VOODOO RANGER (8) gets a nice trialling draw again and wont strike an easier race to break his maiden, whilst ALBY PRIDDY (11) draws terrible but is going better than form suggests, and could run over the top late with any tempo on.

Selections MARV DREAMING (10), BROADWAY BLING (6), MY BEAUTIFUL LIFE (5), VOODOO RANGER (8)

Race 5

GLENVIEW LANAKAI (6) was a strong 2nd sitting outside the leader in fast time last start, and would take some beating with a repeat performance, even from the awkward draw. SWEET DIXIE (8) loves being the bridesmaid with 9 seconds in her career, and gets a nice trailing draw, as does MUZZAME MATE (9) who brings similar form lines. MCMAYHEM (4) made good ground late when resuming last start, and is a chance if he brought his best manners. EVERYTHING BUT THE (1) won his maiden nicely before no luck last start, whilst JADEZ (7) and STANTON BREAK (5) have been racing on the country tracks of late and could run into the top 4 with any luck.

Selections GLENVIEW LANIKAI (6), MUZZAME MATE (9), MCMAYHEM (4), SWEET DIXIE (8)

Race 6

ENJOY LIFE (5) was very green on debut, but expect he takes great improvement from that outing and take some beating again here. ANGEL ROCKS (7) was a handy winner on debut and looks to have some decent ability off that, awkward gate here but think it gets driven for luck again behind a good beginner, and hope gaps appear late when the favourite puts the foot down along the back straight. KEAYANG GALLIANO (11) again draws wide on the back row but has been running home well, but the mile distance might make it tougher for her to run into the placings. OZZIE PEARL (3) was slightly disappointing when used off the gate last start to sit behind the leader, but back to the mile will suit and should position handy on speed, and have every chance to finish on the podium. An even field after those, including TASSIE DAZZLER (1) who finally broke through last start as a 47 start maiden.

Selections  ENJOY LIFE (5), OZZIE PEARL (3), ANGEL ROCKS (7), KEAYANG GALLIANO (11)

Race 7

JUDYSMEMUM (3) has been an impressive winner in both starts, albeit both times at Burnie, but looks like a progressive type who again should get her chance from a nice draw. However, there’s some gate speed from the front row who wont gift her the race, including RESURGENT WARRIOR (4) who’s been racing well against more experienced horses, and FRANCO VAI (5) who was handy 3rd first up from a spell. CAMBRO FLASH (2) has got it all wrong in both starts since arriving from King Island, but has trialled well from the mobile so would expect a forward showing, especially if he able to find the pegs. IAMAHUNTER (7) had no luck first up and will be hoping gaps appear to be in the finish.

Selections JUDYSMEMUM (3), RESURGENT WARRIOR (4), FRANCO VAI (5), CAMBRO FLASH (2)

Race 8

CELEBRITY ROYAL (1) showed his class first up from a long break, when death seating in fast time over the mile. He should have enough gate speed to hold up here and will be almighty hard to run down. MAEBEE (2) has been super consistent since arriving back in the state and looks to get a nice sit on speed with cover and get his chance to run another placing. LYNRYD SKYNRYD (7) ran 3rd against the (1) 2 starts back and gets the nice position following him out along the pegs, whilst KEAYANG FITZY (8) also gets a nice trailing draw which should give him his chance to run top 3 also. Would expect the race to be on speed or pegs dominated so will be hard for others to get into it, including the mile track record holder MAGNETIC TERROR (10) from barrier 10.

Selections CELEBRITY ROYAL (1), MAEBEE (2), KEAYANG FITZY (8), LYNRYD SKYNRYD (7)

Race 9

An even race with a few off the front row with handy gate speed. ITSMENOTU (1) gets the pegs advantage if the emergency doesn’t get a run, and should get her chance sitting on speed. OBLER (3) has been in good form of late before galloping out last start, he possesses similar gate speed but his record says he is better suited over the mile. Expecting MIKIYOURSOFINE (5) to work forward from the gate, and not allow slow middle sectionals like they did at Burnie when he was out sprinted with 400m to go, but come again on the finish line to be narrowly beaten. ANDAMAN BAY (7) will also be hoping the emergency doesn’t get a run, as think he’s a good chance here if driven for luck.  Couldn’t say there’s a horse in the race that cannot win if they didn’t get the right run in transit, so there should be some value in the race somewhere to have a bet.

Selections MIKIYOURSOFINE (5), ANDAMAN BAY (7), ITSMENOTU (2),   OBLER (3)

Race 10

DIDYALOUSAROOSTA (1) kicked up to hold the front to get back in the winners circle 2 starts back at the same track, he has good gate speed but suspect he may be happy to hand to OZZIE CORKA (3) who will ensure there is an even tempo throughout. Last time he was used off the gate over the middle distance he pulled hard and cost himself the race when 2nd, but think the stable have had him long enough now to ensure that doesn’t happen here. MY WAY (4) somewhat drops slightly in class from the country cups he has been competing in, but he may end up sitting outside the leader which isn’t his ideal spot. ANOTHER NIEN (7) has drawn awkwardly, but was spotted hitting the line nicely last start when first up from a break, and any luck in running will see him flying home late.

Selections OZZIE CORKA (3), ANOTHER NIEN (7), DIDYALOUSAROOSTA (1), MY WAY (4)

Race 11

ALBERIO (6) can use his sharp gate speed to cross here over his favoured mile distance. That would give him every chance but he often finds a horse to roll him the last 50m. SHALLOW BEACH (7) is going for 3 on the trot but strikes the inside back row, thinking Dylan may drive for luck over the shorter distance as Carrick can often be hard to make ground at. DEBT WILL WE PART (9) and GOBSMACKED (10) draw their stand back row gates, and will be hoping there is some tempo on throughout and not just early, to allow them to get into the race. As is the same for race 9 on the program, all horses in this race could win without surprising.

Selections ALBERIO (6), SHALLOW BEACH (7), GOBSMACKED (10), DEBT TILL WE PART (9)
