Form Analysis by Braden Howlett
Race 1
SNIPER SANZ (1) has improved his past 2 runs In 2yo races, but the overall times in those have been better than what he’s racing here. He should have enough speed to lead and get his chance to break through. JUST LIKA DREAM (6) has been consistent of late, before going rough last start just after the start, but battled on well for 3rd still. The rest of the field haven’t shown a whole lot of form to date on race day, but EVERYTHING BUT THE (5) could be a chance if he behaves, and has trialled okay at times, whilst OMYBACNKNEES JUDGE (2) went okay on debut as a 2yo and should improve from that run.
Selections SNIPER SANZ (1), JUST LIKA DREAM (6), EVERYTHING BUT THE (5), OMYBACNKNEES JUDGE (2)
Race 2
OH NO NEVER AGAIN (2) will be the first horse to the pegs, and looks to get his chance. But he has loomed to win without getting the job done of late. TALK IS CHEAP (5) will head forward, and she has been racing better than her figure form suggests. Her chances would enhance hugely if the (2) took a sit behind her, which he has a couple times of late. JUSTIFY (7) can do things wrong but at his best, he can roll forward and beat these, whilst SMOOTH DEAL (9) and STAROFREMEMBRANCE (8) will be hoping there is some speed on, which will make them hard to hold out late. GOODTIME OSCAR (4) and YURUGA LASS (3) have been disappointing recently, but get their chance to improve by sitting on speed in an even race.
Selections TALK IS CHEAP (5), OH NO NEVER AGAIN (2), SMOOTH DEAL (9), JUSTIFY (7).
Race 3
The lowest division for the driving series and not a lot of form to go off. SWEET AMOUR (5) ran a good 2nd outside the leader at Burnie and may look to do similar tactics here, and is the most consistent horse overall in the race. RANIERI (8) has found some form again of late, he strikes an awkward gate but would expect gaps to appear the last 400m. HOWSWEETTHESOUND (1) and VINCENTS RAINBOW (2) have chosen this race instead of the maiden and are aided by a good draw to improve, whilst SHALLOW BEACH (6) is first up from Victoria, and trialled good enough to take this out with the right run.
Selections SWEET AMOUR (5), RANIERI (8), SHALLOW BEACH (6), HOWSWEETHESOUND (1)
Race 4
Trainer Tammy Longley holds a strong hand here, with all drawing well. MY BAD (4) has the highest rated form of her 3 runners and continues to get better each start, whilst ITSMENOTU (3) drops back from good runs in the 4yo sires her past couple starts. STEPUPNDANCE (1) looks the leader and should get every chance, where I cant see too many moves in the race unless SHARMEY (10) takes off, however his form has waivered of late. MIKI SANZ (5) looks the one to roll forward from the gate, whilst GYPSY AMOUR (8) gets a nice trailing pegs draw, and did run a much improved race last week. GOBSMACKED (9) has been consistent of late due to dropping back in grade, and a win here would not surprise.
Selections ITSMENOTU (3), MY BAD (4), STEPUPNDANCE (1), GYPSY AMOUR (8)
Race 5
PHOTO FIRST (2) looks to get a nice spot on speed after a strong last start win. He does jump in class from that win but his form prior when placing was against similar class horses that he meets here. LUVTHAT (1) looks the obvious leader and hasn’t had much peace of late when leading, however I don’t think he will be copping too much pressure from the front row here which will enhance his chances. MISTA EAGLE (8) draws a perfect gate for him to do no work on the pegs, whilst MONEY NO ISSUE (7) has been very consistent of late, but would require some tempo or gaps to come his way to be winning. Rest of field have been thereabouts of late and could bob up with the right run.
Selections LUVTHAT (1), PHOTO FIRST (2), MISTA EAGLE (8), MONEYS NO ISSUE (7)
Race 6
Many horses with good form here, and none better than HORATIUS SPECULO (5) who continues to make his way through his classes impressively. Draws an awkward gate here and looks to push forward, where I’m expecting FUN TO LOVE (4) to find the front. She has been in great form since arriving in the state and a pegs run would give her every chance. MY WAY (6) is going well and made good ground over the short distance at Burnie last start, where they dashed home the last 400m in fast time. STRANDED LOLLIPOP (2) got the gaps when needed for Bronte Miller last start and looks to sit close to the speed with cover, whilst SERIOUSLY SAM (1) is a place hope from his nice draw. ROCKANDHARDPLACE (9) drops in class and gets a nice trailing draw, but would need the leaders to go hard to get into the race.
Selections HORATIUS SPECULO (5), FUN TO LOVE (4), STRANDED LOLLIPOP (2), SERIOUSLY SAM (1)
Race 7
IMPERIAL LAZ (1) looks the early leader in what looks to be a slow front row. He pinged the stand last start and led, and was run down by a nice horse in a fast last quarter. He may get away with similar quarters here and gets his chance. WILL HE PIKE (7) is the one that could be set alight early as does possess great gate speed, and his form is much better than his figures show. WAZZA (2) again uses the 3yo concession claim and will sit on speed with cover, he gets his chance to get back on the podium after winning 3 straight early in his preparation. STREET APPEAL (8) arrives in the state with competitive form from Western Australia and looks to get a soft run behind the speed. His trials were only fair, but that was 7 weeks ago, so suggest watching the market with him. MONTGOMERY BURNS (3), SHOEBEES SPIRIT (5) and POWER UP (6) look the other chances and can with the right run in transit.
Selections IMPERIAL LAZ (1), WAZZA (2), MONTGOMERY BURNS (3), POWER UP (6)
Race 8
This looks to be one of the most open FFA races we have seen for a while. KEAYANG FITZY (8) last 2 starts couldn’t have been much better, and although a front row draw would’ve suit him better with his gate speed, he may end up getting a nice trailing run here. This will depend heavily on if MADDIS TIGER (1) behaves and can hold front, where his form previous to his last 3 runs, would make him go very close here. IRON CLAD (3) was very good when winning a heat of the Golden Apple, before okay runs in his past 2 starts. He should settle on speed and may look to get cover from CUSTOM HARLEY (5), who was superb first up doing all the work. He hits the open class ranks here for the 2nd time but will no doubt improve again from his long break. The rest of the field can all win with the right run in transit and solid tempo in the race.
Selections KEAYANG FITZY (8), MADDIS TIGER (1), IRON CLAD (3), CUSTOM HARLEY (5)
