Form Analysis by Braden Howlett
Race 1
A competitive 2yo race kicks off the meet, where (4) TWILIGHT STORM proved her Grp2 Evicus win was no fluke at $81, when 3 wide to the death last start in fast time and only going down 6.5m. She’ll roll forward and look the winner at some stage, whilst (2) OZZIE PEARL will again attempt to break her maiden in her 20th race this year. She should find the pegs here which should help and driver Rohan Hillier will have options from there. (6) ROCKY STRIDE made super ground against the above in the same race, and if close enough will make his presence felt. (5) JILLSTIGER got the money last start when backed, whilst (7) HEY FRANCO showed great ability earlier in the season, and would only need to hold that form to give this a shake.
Selections (4) TWILIGHT STORM, (2) OZZIE PEARL, (6) ROCKY STRIDE, (7) HEY FRANCO
Race 2
(1) DANCINWITHJOELENE draws barrier 1 for the 6th time in a row, where she’s often had to cop pressure early which has made her weaken late. (2) GUENEVERES MADONNA ran an improved race last start and looks like getting a nice position on speed again, when (4) OBLER looks to roll forward. He ran a great race 2 starts back when in death over the mile trip, likewise to (3) IDEN KAMIKAZE who made up a heap of ground late last start, but does lack gate speed to find himself in a forward position. (10) JEREMY WELLS has found some form his past 2 starts and will be hoping there is speed on, as will (12) GOBSMACKED who has been racing well of late.
Selections (10) JEREMY WELLS, (4) OBLER, GUENEVERES MADONNA, (3) IDEN KAMIKAZE
Race 3
(2) IMA LITTLE NEEDY looks to be first to the pegs again here, whilst (4) SUES PASSION pushes forward to race on speed. (5) MIKI SING brings superior form to this NMT2 race considering he placed in the Vicbred Silver race last start, and an unlucky 2nd in the Swan Hill cup 4 starts back. Would think he gets the respect from those inside him and finds the front and should simply be too good if he runs up to his previous form. (9) MUZZAME MATE looked disappointing last start, but can bounce back onto the podium here, whilst another mainlander in (10) KEAYANG GALLIANO makes her debut in the state, and brings solid form with her. (11) ALWAYSATIGER will be hoping for a truly run race to allow her to finish in the placings, as she did last start when a good 3rd in the Grp2 Bandbox final.
Selections (5) MIKI SING, (9) MUZZAME MATE, (10) KEAYANG GALLIANO, (11) ALWAYSATIGER
Race 4
(3) OZZIE CORKA over raced over the 2200m last start when he went down as the $1.16 favourite. Back to the mile here, expect him to find the front off the (1) and run some sharp sectionals and take some catching. (1) HAY MIKI circled the field 4 wide at the 600m last start and ran away for a commanding victory, after a solid run the start prior which wasn’t missed by punters being $13 into $7 late. He has good gate speed and looks the obvious danger to the (3). (2) CAMELOT JEDIMASTER should sit close enough to run a place, whilst (8) DONNY IN PARIS gets the nice pegs run following the speed.
Selections (3) OZZIE CORKA, (1) HAY MIKI, (8) DONNY IN PARIS, (2) CAMELOT JEDIMASTER.
Race 5
(12) TRIEDTOTELLYA showed his class and he’ll be hard to beat in the upcoming summer cups carnival with a superb victory in the Golden Apple feature last start. He goes back another 10m here, but this race is also 498m longer which should help. (13) STAR MAJOR was left flat footed when they sprinted hard down the back straight in the same race, but still made solid ground to run into 4th. (3) MAEBEE was very good also in the same race when in death seat, and may be the one for the backmarkers to chase off the front row. His chances would improve hugely if was able to get the front off (1) PARDOE PLUGGA, but (5) ROCKINAHARDPLACE will be starting fast from the tapes again and run them along as he does. (11) GLENLEDI ELVIS smashed the track record when winning last start, but can be hit and miss from the tapes, whilst (7) THE SHALLOWS and (8) IRON CLAD look the other chances.
Selections (12) TRIEDTOTELLYA, (3) MAEBEE, (13) STAR MAJOR, (11) GLENLEDI ELVIS
Race 6
A strong open mares race over the 2200m, where I see (5) ULTIMACTION bullying her way to the front off (2) FUN TO LOVE. They went head to head last start over the mile in a great battle, but would say (2) may hand up over the longer distance here. (7) STEPPIING STONES is the highest rater in the field and has been consistent in the open features in the state the past couple years, and will be hoping for some solid tempo to be running home well. (6) SABINE continues to go through her grades and will be looking to run home into a place driven with cover. The other 3 mares in the race are probably a class below the above and will be taking shortcuts to earn a good cheque with some luck.
Selections (5) ULTIMACTION, (2) FUN TO LOVE, (7) STEPPING STONES, (6) SABINE
Race 7
(2) MARTYR has been well placed and will be attempting to lead and win his 4th start in a row. He really dug deep late last start to hold on over the 2200m, and believe he will need to do similar here as the pressure comes from most likely in (6) KEEPERS IDEAL throughout. In saying that, not a whole lot of gate speed from others in the front row which will help his chances. (1) DIDYALOUSAROOSTA had every chance to run him down last start and looks to get the similar opportunity here, whilst (9) MAGIC JOE could find himself 3 pegs if the emergency doesn’t gain a start. His previous runs before galloping on the first corner last start were very good, and he will be hitting the line hard late if gaps appear. (3) SMOKESCREEN could find himself in a favourable 1x1 position after doing work last start, and (12) LIFEINTHEBALANCE will need some tempo on, but may be suited off the back row if he settles, and should be running home strong.
Selections (2) MARTYR, (1)DIDYALOISAROOSTA, (3)SMOKESCREEN, (9) MAGIC JOE
Race 8
(2) MODERN JIVE will be the first to the pegs and gets back to his suitable distance in the mile. He was beaten 118m only 9 days ago but can give some cheek if he recovers from that. (7) YARECKON IM SWEET has been in great form, and will again be reliant on some tempo over the short distance to get into the race, but this doesn’t look much harder than her previous starts. (8) MOVESLIKELADY will again be driven for luck and be hoping for some tempo also and gaps to come her way, whilst (3) PUNTARNO STRIDE may be the one to put the foot down early and see if the (2) is driven for cover, which he does at times. (1) BARNEY BILL is going better than his figure form suggests, whilst (5) STIR ME UP and (6) ALWAYS AURORA are both last start winners, but draw awkward in somewhat a harder race than previous runs.
Selections (7) YARECKON IM SWEET, (8) MOVESLIKELADY, (3) PUNTARNO STRIDE, (2) BARNEY BILL
