Melton, Saturday 13 December

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: BULLETPROOF BOY (10) continued his outstanding form with a strong victory over HES FROM HEAVEN (5) in a super mile rate of 1.51.8 last outing. He is poorly drawn but is very versatile and looms as one of the leading chances again. PETRACCA (4) is stepping up to the genuine open class following his latest victory over Roadmaster at Geelong. He boasts the strong record of 13 wins from just 20 starts and should give another forward showing. HES FROM HEAVEN (5) set up a genuine tempo and was run down late at his first run for trainer Lisa Pitt. He was impressive at the trials prior and should be competitive from his reasonable draw. SWEETNIKKILOU (1) performed very well throughout the Super Series and is worth thought from the pole position. DANGEROUS (7) faces a negative swing in the barrier draw from his latest victory over BULLETPROOF BOY (10) but he is worth thought along with TRIPLE EIGHT (8) and MACH DAN (9).

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,5,7

SELECTIONS: BULLETPROOF BOY (10), PETRACCA (4), HES FROM HEAVEN (5), SWEETNIKKILOU (1)

RATINGS: 4,10/ 5/ 1,7,8/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: BULLETPROOF BOY (10) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: CAPTAIN PERFECT (10) is a strong staying type but was still able to show enough zip to win in a slowly run heat at Melton last week. He is likely to make an early move and will be hard to toss. ITS CONFIDENTIAL (4) finished off strongly to claim victory in the Super Series Final and he was also placed in the Victoria Derby so a bold showing is expected. He was shuffled back on the markers and held his own in a sizzling final quarter of 26.9 seconds last week. MAC BON (12) is the defending Breeders Crown champion and lost no admirers at his heat victory last week, where he worked forward to find the lead and was comfortable at the finish. The draw is a big disadvantage but he must be respected. SOHO THE REAL DEAL (2) was placed after leading out then taking cover last week. He is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern and MY ULTIMATE JIMMY (3) rates as a knockout chance.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely early leader), 4

SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN PERFECT (10), ITS CONFIDENTIAL (4), MAC BON (12), SOHO THE REAL DEAL (2)

RATINGS: 10/ 4,12/ 2,3,9,11

SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN PERFECT (10) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: BETTOR BEACH (2) produced an amazing debut performance to win over the outstanding filly ARRHYTHMIA (4) last week. She gave the leader a big start and was able to produce an incredible finale in a last quarter of 26.6! She can only be better for the experience and appears to be an exciting prospect. ARRHYTHMIA (4) was overshadowed by her stable mate last week but it was her first defeat in eight starts and she has been a dominant force throughout the season. She is a good chance of finding the lead again and is capable of bouncing back. WILLOWS GIRL (1) is a speedy filly that should land a dangerous position from the ideal draw. She was unsuited by a slow early tempo last week but she hit the line hard for third and should be competitive again. ONE MILLIE (3) gained the perfect trip in front when she scored at her Victorian debut. There is likely to be more pressure in this event but she is still worth thought along with DEGARMEA TEALE (6).

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 3,6

SELECTIONS: BETTOR BEACH (2), ARRHYTHMIA (4), WILLOWS GIRL (1), ONE MILLIE (3)

RATINGS: 2,4/ 1/ 3,6

SUGGESTED BET: BETTOR BEACH (2) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: HARPERSEVEN (7) finished off best to win the Super Series then appeared to be very impressive in her heat victory last week, where she showed good gate speed to lead and dominated at the end, recording a very slick final quarter of 27.1 seconds. She has the worst draw out of the leading chances but she is right in the zone at present. ALDEBARAN ADA (3) settled three back on the markers, moved into the breeze at the 600m and sustained a strong run to win her heat. She was runner up in the Super Series Final prior and looms as one of the leading chances again. GLADIATRIX (2) began quickly but couldn’t lead and ended up angling in behind the leader when a close second in her heat. She has won most of her races in New South Wales from the front and she is ideally drawn so she must be considered as a winning chance. JILLIBY AURA (6) had every chance behind HARPERSEVEN (7) last week but she continues to build on her consistent record and is worth a ticket each way. MEVIA (5) made up a lot of ground after being severely checked at the 1500m in her heat effort and is a value hope.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,3,6,7

SELECTIONS: HARPERSEVEN (7), ALDEABARAN ADA (3), GLADIATRIX (2), JILLIBY AURA (6)

RATINGS: 3,7/ 2/ 6/ 1,5

SUGGESTED BET: HARPERSEVEN (7) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG BAZLENKA (3) has only been defeated once in six starts and completely dominated his rivals in his heat victory so he is clearly the horse to beat again. He defeated a very similar field in the Super Series Final on November 22. HAMMER (1) was resuming since September when a handy finishing third in his heat. He should strip fitter from that run and is a good chance of ending up being behind the leader from the pole position so he is a strong Quinella chance. THE PREACHER (8) had every chance behind KEAYANG BAZLENKA (3) in his heat but he was an unlucky second in the Redwood Classic and is a definite place hope from his possible position of being three back on the markers. MUNNY THE MUNSTER (7) and NOTANOTHA NAUGHTY (11) are both racing in good form and are not without a chance. Both UNCLAD (5) and HOWDY MATE (6) have also impressed this season so it is a very strong field.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 1,4,5

SELECTIONS: KEAYANG BAZLENKA (3), HAMMER (1), THE PREACHER (8), MUNNY THE MUNSTER (7)

RATINGS: 3/ 1/ 7,8,11/ 5,6

SUGGESTED BET: KEAYANG BAZLENKA (3) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: BEACH DIAMOND (7) trailed the leader after commencing from the inside of the second line and did well to pick up some ground in a scintillating last quarter of 25.6 seconds when second in her heat. She brilliantly won the Super Series prior and importantly is drawn out in the open this evening so she can bounce back into winning form. PEACE OUT (5) sat on the outside of the leader throughout in a slowly run race and was able to show the best speed in the sprint up the straight when she won last week. She finished third in the Super Series Final prior and is worth thought again. SOHO AMERICANO (12) was run down after enjoying the perfect run in front last week but the last quarter was extremely fast so it might have a case where she was outsprinted rather than getting tired at the end. She won the Victoria Oaks in October and was runner up in the Super Series Final so she is worth another chance. LET HER ROLL (13) and SMIRKIN SERENE (9) were the first two across the line in the second heat of this series so they are worth respect but the heat won by PEACE OUT (5) did appear to be the stronger race on paper.

EARLY SPEED: 7 (likely leader), 1,2,3,5

SELECTIONS: BEACH DIAMOND (7), PEACE OUT (5), SOHO AMERICANO (12), LET HER ROLL (13)

RATINGS: 7/ 5,12/ 13/ 9/ 10

SUGGESTED BET: BEACH DIAMOND (7) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: It appears to be a match between the two classy fillies I AM WILMA (4) and GATESYS GEM (5). I AM WILMA (4) commenced from the inside of the second line, circled the field to park without cover at the 1500m and pressured the leader for the remainder of the trip so she was very impressive in her heat success. She possesses early speed, is drawn inside of GATESYS GEM (5) and has hit peak form at the right time so she gets the nod. GATESYS GEM (5) was brave in defeat when second in the Victoria Derby, performed admirably in two starts during the New Zealand Cup Carnival then effortlessly won her heat. She is very good and is sure to make her presence felt. KEAYANG KURKI (3) copped plenty of pressure from I AM WILMA (4) and tired late when sixth in her heat. Her form prior was very consistent and there is a good chance she will be trailing the leader here so she must be respected. WIND CHASER (6) and ALDEBARAN SUE (8) are both worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 5

SELECTIONS: I AM WILMA (4), GATESYS GEM (5), KEAYANG KURKI (3), ALDEBARAN SUE (8)

RATINGS: 4,5/ 3/ 6,8

SUGGESTED BET: I AM WILMA (4) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: MECARNO (5) is racing in outstanding form and considering amongst his five straight victories were the Victoria Derby and the Super Series Final, he is likely to attract plenty of support. He is very strong and outstayed ENCHAUFFOUR (7) in fast time to win his heat last week. VYTIS (3) was very unlucky not to qualify for the Super Series Final when he was checked on the home turn, won the Bronze Final of that event then followed with an eye-catching third behind MECARNO (5) in his heat. He possesses early speed and is not to be underestimated. ENCHAUFFOUR (7) attempted to lead throughout and found MECARNO (5) to be a little too strong for him at his latest attempt. He is not as well drawn now but his overall form is consistent and he should be competitive again. ALDEBARAN ABEL (6), LILLYS TIGER (9) and CHARLESTON AVENUE (11) are all minor place hopes in the event.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 1,7

SELECTIONS: MECARNO (5), VYTIS (3), ENCHAUFFOUR (7), CHARLESTON AVENUE (11)

RATINGS: 5/ 3,7/ 6,11/ 1,9

SUGGESTED BET: MECARNO (5) to win

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: LOUCASSO (1) was first up since winning the Protostar during the Brisbane Winter Carnival when he ambled to the lead shortly after the start and dashed home in a sensational last quarter of 25.7 seconds to win his heat. He should be fitter after that performance and is a big chance of leading throughout. CARDIGAN DAN (8) is the obvious main danger. He is drawn to trail the leader and did do well after leading out then taking cover behind LOUCASSO (1) last week. LUVTOBEUPTOME (4) is racing extremely well and missed out narrowly in the Super Series Final two starts ago but the barrier draw is a big disadvantage with LOUCASSO (1) coming up with pole position. SOHO MAJESTIC (9) is likely to ease onto the markers behind CARDIGAN DAN (8) shortly after the start and is a minor place hope at odds with an expected economical trip.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: LOUCASSO (1), CARDIGAN DAN (8), LUVTOBEUPTOME (4), SOHO MAJESTIC (9)

RATINGS: 1/ 8/ 4/ 9/ 2,3,5,6

SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 1/ 8/ 4,9 (Cost $2)
