Form Analysis by RACING AND SPORTS
Favourable draws for his promising fillies Snipers Fire and Weona Miss Miki in two of the NSW Breeders Challenge Eastern Region finals should see a good night for trainer/driver Brad Hewitt at Menangle on Saturday.
The meeting also sees the in-form Huta face a new challenge when he steps up in grade and tackles some well-performed rivals.
Race-by-race preview of Menangle, Saturday December 6
Race 1: BUBBA GUMP PEST CONTROL PACE
WHEREYABINBOPPIN (10) hasn't featured at his last couple but they have been in strong company and he did manage a close-up second when he resumed at Wagga prior. Has the speed to get across from the wide draw and is a 15-time winner at this circuit and distance. Can do much better at this level. DOM TORETTO (1) has been far from disgraced against decent opposition at his last couple, the latest from a very wide barrier. Put together a string of placings at this circuit and distance last month and the ace draw should give him every chance to show his best form. CRAFTMANS CHARLIE (6) hasn't raced for ten weeks but was readied with a trial win so expect a good effort to kick off this prep. ITZMINEONTHELINE (4) goes up in grade but looks close to another win after seconds from wider barriers in his last two outings here. A good draw should see DOUBLE ACT (2) highly competitive.
Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE
BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (9) gave a good sight in his first outing for Kevin Pizzuto, leading and sticking on for a 1.3m second at this circuit last week. That continued his strong form from Brisbane where he recorded three wins and a placing from his previous four outings. Draws wide but has the gate speed to go forward and this looks winnable. TENMINUTES (10) has added to a long string of top-three finishes by placing in his last two outings here, going under by a neck last week. Draws widest but he is suited up to a distance where he has recorded a win and a placing from two attempts. CARLO GAMBINO (3) has been solid from wider barriers at his last couple and is aided by this more favourable draw. DOUGS FLAME (6) could be competitive in this line-up.
Race 3: BE HAPPY MACH @ WINGATE FARM PACE
HUTA (3) is flying having come from wider to score by 5.7m over this distance last week, his fourth success in five attempts at this circuit since joining Jason Grimson. Takes on a stronger line-up this time but has the speed to take advantage of the good draw so can take the next step. RIPP (1) continues to race well having placed from wider barriers in four of his last five starts, cashing the in-form Captains Knock for a 4m second here last week. Can take advantage of the inside draw so could break through. NYACK (10) draws wide but has done well to place in both starts so far this campaign. Has a win and a placing in two previous third-up attempts so could be ready to peak. DONEGAL LUTHER (9) draws wider tonight but must be respected off back-to-back wins at this circuit and distance.
Race 4: ULTRA AIR LADYSHIP PACE
ALFNALMA (11) worked to the front before she scored by 9 metres at Bathurst last start, continuing her strong form. Draws the outside but has the speed to push forward and she was good when runner-up at Listed level to the smart Lux Aeterna at this circuit and distance two back. Big chance with even luck. A wider draw creates more of a challenge for ISLA ROCHELLE (9) tonight but she is progressive and has looked good in winning her last two outings at this circuit and distance. GOODTIME LIBBY (3) impressed in her first outing for Mick Stanley when she came from much wider for an easy win. Has the speed to take advantage of the low draw so could take this next step. PET KITTY (8) disappointed last week but was going very well prior so is worth another chance. SHEZ SWEET LOUISE (6) is worth including off her last-start placing at Listed level at this circuit and distance.
Race 5: NUTRIEN EQUINE NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE EASTERN REGION 3YO FILLIES FINAL (LISTED CLASSIC)
WEONA MISS MIKI (1) relished a class drop when she worked her way to the front before going on to score by 3.2m at Wagga last week. She has the speed to take advantage of the ace draw and is nicely placed against the fillies. TENACIOUSLY (6) hasn't won for a while but has produced a series of close-up efforts against older rivals at this circuit, beaten only 1.8m as runner-up last week. Draws deeper but she too will enjoy coming back to her own age and sex. NAMAKA (4) placed in a handy line-up here two back and won a Breeders Challenge heat at this circuit and distance earlier in the campaign. Right in this. OUR ULTIMATE JESSY (3) can be competitive from a good draw.
Race 6: NUTRIEN EQUINE NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE EASTERN REGION 2YO FILLIES FINAL (LISTED CLASSIC)
SNIPERS FIRE (2) is a promising filly who stretched her unbeaten run to three when scoring by 1.8m at Wagga last week. Has the pace to be prominent from the low draw and she could be bound for better things so goes on top again. COCOS DESIRE (3) missed by just a nose when second on debut at this circuit and distance then came from the back row and raced three without cover when scoring a tough win at Penrith last time. Has upside and a good draw sees her as a big danger. BEACHBABE CROCKER (4) was well fancied here last time but was wayward at the start. Easy winner at Newcastle prior so with manners she is good enough to make an impact. THE EYE IN THE SKY (1) hasn't been too far away at her last couple and is aided by the inside draw. FORGIVE AND FORGET (10) draws wide but has the form to be competitive with even luck.
Race 7: NUTRIEN EQUINE NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE EASTERN REGION 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS FINAL (LISTED CLASSIC)
SOHO GUNSLINGER (7) has had a month since spanking his rivals by more than 20m metres at Penrith last start but goes well when kept fresh. That was his fourth success in five starts this campaign and while drawn wide he came from one spot wider to kick off the preparation with a Breeders Challenge heat win at this circuit and distance. The one to beat. WAMBOYNE MACHETE (1) has won both starts over this distance at Newcastle since joining Rickie Alchin for this preparation. Led from wider last time has the speed to take advantage of the ace draw and give a big sight. SET UP (3) has been coming from wide barriers of late but gets his best draw since an easy Penrith win so can show more. RIVERA LOU (6) hasn't been far away in decent company of late so should measure up.
Race 8: WARDS ACCOUNTING GROUP PACE
NO DRAMAS (1) has been very consistent of late, coming from wider barriers for top-four finishes in her last three outings at this circuit including a 2.6m third last week. Goes up in distance but placed the only time she attempted it and while she takes on the boys tonight she should get every chance from the inside draw. LIGHT ME UP (9) looks close to a win having finished fourth here at his Australian debut before he broke but recovered for second at Newcastle last week. Draws wide but should be approaching peak fitness. HAS THE COURAGE (3) hasn't been far from the placegetters at his last couple and a lower draw brings him into contention. COOL NIGHT (4) owns a decent second-up record so could progress off the resuming second at Newcastle.
Race 9: IRT YOUR HORSE OUR PASSION TROTTERS STANDING START HANDICAP
PESCO POLLO (5) drew wide but cruised home here last time out, working to the front before spanking his rivals by more than 16m. That was his sixth win from just seven tries here and saw him unbeaten at this distance. Switches to a standing start but if he gets it right he'll be tough to stop again. SPEEDY LOVER (4) chased Inter Dominion winner The Locomotive when runner-up last week and placed behind Pesco Pollo prior. It won't be easy for him to turn the tables but he can be in the finish again. SHEETWEB WEAVER (8) has recorded two wins and a second from his last three attempts in standing races so is suited under those conditions despite a 20m handicap. JUNGLE EYES (7) and COURAGE STRIDE (6) have both been racing consistently so have first four claims again.
BEST BETS:
Race 2 #9 Bold Medley Jujon – Good last week and while drawn wide he has the form to win this.
Race 7 #7 Soho Gunslinger – Progressive and has the talent to overcome a wide draw and win.
