Form Analysis by Craig Rail
Race 1:
OVERVIEW: RUBY WINGATE (7) finished off best to win in a slick mile of 1.55.6 at Charlton two starts ago then went to the line jogging with no clear run at Bendigo. She is widely drawn but is racing in fine form and was very unlucky last time out so she is worth an investment. CEE CEE LOU (6) will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment after his efforts in the Super Series. He drew on the outside of the front line in the Final of that series and beat a few runners home after dropping back to a rearward position at the start so he appears to be a strong chance under these conditions. JOE GOT ROLLED (5) finished unplaced when resuming but she should strip fitter and she was competing at Metropolitan level during her last campaign so she is worth another chance. The fast beginner CLARA ROCKS (4) and YAPPER (8) are both capable of showing up without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,2
SELECTIONS: RUBY WINGATE (7), CEE CEE LOU (6), JOE GOT ROLLED (5), CLARA ROCKS (4)
RATINGS: 7/ 5,6/ 4/ 8
SUGGESTED BET: RUBY WINGATE (7) to win
Race 2:
OVERVIEW: ALWAYS ON SAFARI (9) is a strong type and deserves to break through for a win. He chased hard when a game second behind the smart pacer Jilliby Sniper at his latest performance. SWEET MARION (2) has been unplaced in two starts to date and lacks solid racing but she has ability. She competed against the top juvenile pacer Loucasso at her debut then was sixth behind another classy type in Atua Magic at her next attempt. She shaped up nicely at a Bendigo trial effort last week and must be respected. THE GOLDEN HOOK (7) appeared to have his chance to win last week after leading out then taking cover but he has been placed in six of his seven starts to date and should give another honest account here. I WANT MARY (1) has been contesting Super Series events recently so she is worth a place ticket from the pole position.
EARLY SPEED: 7 (possible leader), 3
SELECTIONS: ALWAYS ON SAFARI (9), SWEET MARION (2), THE GOLDEN HOOK (7), I WANT MARY (1)
RATINGS: 2,9/ 7/ 1,3/ 6
SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS ON SAFARI (9) each way
Race 3:
OVERVIEW: WICKED MITZI (10) delivered a career best performance when she led throughout and posted a sizzling mile rate of 1.53.0 two starts ago. She followed with a fifth in the Super Series Silver event, where she copped a lot of pressure in the leading role and she should be highly competitive against this line up. SHAQ (6) moved up without cover and recorded a tough victory in a mile rate of 1.55.1 at Bendigo on October 28. He has had no luck whatsoever in three starts since and is worth another chance. INTERPRETATION (7) led throughout at a Bendigo victory two starts ago then wasn’t disgraced in a Metropolitan event at Melton last time out. She is a speedy mare and is capable of showing up if she gains the right luck from the extreme alley. CHOGI (8) trailed the leader and was held up for a run before gaining a late split when third behind Angels Watching at Mildura last outing. She led throughout to win on that track three starts ago and is worth thought again.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 6,7
SELECTIONS: WICKED MITZI (10), SHAQ (6), INTERPRETATION (7), CHOGI (8)
RATINGS: 10/ 6/ 7,8/ 4,5/ 1
SUGGESTED BET: WICKED MITZI (10) to win
Race 4:
OVERVIEW: KYVALLEY JETSTREAM (9) was a big winner over Quirky Character (won impressively since) at Bendigo two starts ago then followed with a second behind Buslin Brody on that track last time out. He appears to be well placed against this opposition and should prove very hard to beat. DONA AMALIA (6) has a few gait issues but she has a lot of ability when she is able to put it altogether. She is resuming since a third behind Bullapark Beno in August and hasn’t been to the trials but she has performed very well on the Charlton track previously. MIDNITE MUSCLE (1) was placed four times in succession including a victory at Kilmore prior to a sixth at Maryborough last week, where he worked hard to lead from a wide alley. He is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern and is worth another chance. JESSICAS STORY (3) performs best when she can gain a trail close to the speed and is capable of improving on her recent performances.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 3
SELECTIONS: KYVALLEY JETSTREAM (9), DONA AMALIA (6), MIDNITE MUSCLE (1), JESSICAS STORY (3)
RATINGS: 9/ 6/ 1,3/ 2,10
SUGGESTED BET: KYVALLEY JETSTREAM (9) to win
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: FAIR CHANCE (11) continues to build on her consistent record and is versatile enough to overcome the poor draw. She raced out three horses wide for the final 800m and battled on well for third behind Fiano at Melton last outing. REIGN EM IN (10) beat FAIR CHANCE (11) to the line in that event but he did gain a nice trail behind her in the final circuit. He recorded a mile rate of 1.55.0 at Maryborough two starts ago and is one of the leading chances again. KATUNGA EXPRESS (8) is ready to break through for a win but he is awkwardly positioned on the inside of the second row behind a moderate beginner so he will need some luck in the early stages of the event. He finished off nicely for second behind Chirripo at Shepparton last outing. IM STUCK MAN (3) is a strong type and he will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment so he is not without a chance. HELLOVATIME (9) was performing well during a New South Wales campaign and has recently returned to Victoria. He is backing up quickly from his effort at Horsham on Sunday but he cannot be left out of calculations.
EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 3,7
SELECTIONS: FAIR CHANCE (11), REIGN EM IN (10), KATUNGA EXPRESS (8), IM STUCK MAN (3)
RATINGS: 10,11/ 3,8/ 9/ 6,7
SUGGESTED BET: FAIR CHANCE (11) each way
Race 6:
OVERVIEW: CALDERS REVENGE (13) was left stranded mid-race and battled on well for second behind Lady Manche at Maryborough last week. She is poorly drawn but she is getting closer to her maiden success. WIND STORM (5) is a nicely bred filly for trainer John Tormey, which was a runaway trial winner last week. She obviously has ability and is worth an investment. FARSTAR (7) began quickly to find the lead and was run down over the latter stages when second behind Pastor Dunbar at Shepparton last week. There is a lack of fast beginners drawn on the front line here and he is a good chance of finding the lead again so he must be considered as a winning chance. IN HIGH PLACES (11) has improved with every start since coming from New South Wales and he found the line nicely at his latest second. He is awkwardly drawn but cannot be left out of calculations.
EARLY SPEED: 7 (likely leader), 5
SELECTIONS: CALDERS REVENGE (13), WIND STORM (5), FARSTAR (7), IN HIGH PLACES (11)
RATINGS: 5,13/ 7/ 11/ 6/ 10,12
SUGGESTED BET: CALDERS REVENGE (13) each way
Race 7:
OVERVIEW: PRINCESS ARNA (13) was aggressively driven from the same draw when she won impressively at Bendigo on November 19. She circled around the field to race without cover when a solid fourth behind Regal Rock at Maryborough last week and she strikes a very suitable assignment now. JOEYS HANGOVER (12) began quickly and pushed forward to find the front when he scored at Maryborough last week. This race is only marginally tougher so he is worth thought again. KIMCHI (8) endured a torrid trip last week and had excuses. She worked home well for second behind PRINCESS ARNA (13) prior so she is worth another chance. FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (9) is usually competitive against this class and is worth a ticket each way. She raced without cover throughout and went down fighting when third behind Treacheroustimes at Echuca three starts ago.
EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 2,3
SELECTIONS: PRINCESS ARNA (13), JOEYS HANGOVER (12), KIMCHI (8), FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (9)
RATINGS: 13/ 8,12/ 9/ 3,4/ 7
SUGGESTED BET: PRINCESS ARNA (13) to win
