FRESH from capturing another major at Club Menangle during the weekend, astute horseman James Rattray will return in search of more glory today.
Rattray made the trip to the world class venue on Saturday night to secure the TAB State Championship with Gordons Bay, which made it two $100,000 victories in seven days!
The previous Saturday night Gordons Bay won the TAB Metropolitan Championship, which earned him a berth in the State Final.
Along with Menangle, Regional Championships were conducted in Wagga, Newcastle and Bathurst, with the State edition pitting the various winners against each other for overall bragging rights.
Driven by Rattray, Gordons Bay led throughout from barrier five to score by 12 metres from Oratoria, with Brooklyn Bridge two-and-a-half metres away third.
Rating 1:56.6 over 2300 metres, the son of Captaintreacherous took his record to 10 wins and nine placings from 39 starts for earnings of $185,357.
As for his pending Menangle appearance, Rattray will partner rising star trotter London To A Brick in a Foundation heat.
Racing in strong for, London To A Brick boasts three wins and a second from his last five starts, with his unplaced effort coming in the New South Wales Trotters' Derby a fortnight ago when he broke stride at the stride, losing all chance.
During his previous outing London To A Brick was runner-up behind Moonwalka, which iis among the three-year-old's rivals again.
Despite being the widest drawn runner in barrier eight, London To A Brick is a $2.50 in early markets, with Watts Up Partytime considered the biggest threat at $3 from gate six.
Sixth in the Derby, Moonwalka is on the third line of betting at $6.
