Longford trainer-driver Todd Rattray had a night out in Launceston on Sunday night, driving four winners, with three of those coming on horses he trains.

Part of his winning night included the CUB Devonport City Of Quality feature with top pacer Harjeet.

The race was a random barrier draw, which saw Harjeet draw inside of barrier five in a mobile start race for the first time since June 2020.

Rattray took the $1.80 favourite straight to the lead, where he raced in quarters of 28.5s, 30.5s, 27.7s and 28.5s, for a mile rating of 1m 54.8s, just 0.4s, outside the track record.

He defeated Cool Water Paddy by 7.4m, with Rackemup Tigerpie 2.4m away third.

“He was terrific,” said Rattray post-race.

“He has been good the last month, he has been a lot happier at home, and it worked out tonight.

“The mobiles are a big help than chasing off 20 and 30 metres in stands where he can’t get into the race when they keep running up front.

The trainer-driver indicated there were no interstate plans for the nine-year-old gelding.

Interstate plans could be on the cards for Magician, who recorded his seventh win at start 14 with an 18.2m victory earlier in the night.

Rattray said the pacer is starting to race a lot more tractably, and he indicated the Raider Stakes in July is the pacer’s main aim and pending how he performs in that series, connections are likely to look at Tasracing’s Eureka Slot.

Three-year-old gelding Nyack was another winner from the Rattray yard, with the stable eyeing off some aged features later in the year.

Rattray also had success with Artyboy Glenwood in the final race of the night for Carrick trainer Brian Mackrill.
