In January 2021, the Update Horse Status component within HarnessWeb was successfully rolled out as part of a response to recommendations made in both the HRA commissioned Parker Report and the QLD Government’s Martin Report relating to the need for improved traceability of horses.
The Update Horse Status button is visible in the My Stable and My Horses tabs on HarnessWeb as well as on the main toolbar so as to allow for updates to easily be made any time there is a change to a horse’s circumstances including if it is sold, retired, leaves for breaking/pre training or spelling in another location. There are some 13 status options to choose from.
The process was initially introduced on a voluntary basis to allow a smooth introduction of the technology and the concept so as to iron out any issues or flaws with its usability.
It has now been in play for almost 12 months, and as per the initial industry notice regarding this feature (which can be read here) the process is set to become mandatory in the near future.
Prior to that occurring HRA is mindful that all feedback has been received regarding the usability of the system and appropriateness of the statuses – so we need your help.
We are asking that participants who use or have used the system in real-time to provide constructive comments that will assist in making the process as simple and accurate as possible once it becomes a mandatory part of training and owning Standardbreds in Australia.
Feedback will be collated for the RISE developers to assess and upgrade functionality, if possible.
Your comments can be emailed to HRA's Head of Equine Health, Welfare and Traceability, Kathleen Mullan at KMullan@hra.com.au and must be received by 15th January 2021 to be considered.
