Track Curator Fred Harrison is one of the 24,000 participants who is employed or participates in the Western Australian racing industry.

It is because of our industry participants, such as Fred, that we continue to do everything in our power to ensure we can continue to race safely throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fred has been working at Pinjarra Harness Racing Club since 1995, and says he loves his job because of his passion for racing.

“My job entails everything that needs to be done at the racetrack for racing and training, and track maintenance. It’s not a glamorous job but I enjoy getting my hands dirty.”

“The job gives me the opportunity to still be involved with the horses and work outdoors. And there are a lot of good people in the industry, many whom I’ve known for a very long time.”

“Throughout the COVID-19 period there hasn’t really been much change for the track staff weekly routines. Without the public on-course we have been able to get a few extra jobs done around the place.”

“It’s been great that the industry has pulled together with a great effort to continue racing.”

Since 16 March 2020, we have been working together as an industry to implement a range of strict bio-security measures to ensure the continuation of racing during COVID-19.

Once again RWWA would like to thank our racing participants for their continuous understanding and support through these uncertain times.

We are in this, TOGETHER.
