Mr Feelgood thrives on dishing out the pain to his rivals.

The superstar dual hemisphere pacer made a clear and concise statement to his rivals in tonight's Gr.1 $425,000 SEW Eurodrive Victoria Cup at TABCORP Park, Melton.

The Luke McCarthy trained and driven pacer thrashed his opponents to claim his second Barastoc Grand Circuit event this season after his demolition job in the Queensland Pacing Championship on October 30.

Mr Feelgood showed enormous strength to hold off rising New Zealand star The Sleepy Tripp and race favourite Im Themightyquinn to win the 2240m event in a time of 1.55.9.

After challenging for the early lead with Melpark Major in a lead time of 44.6 seconds, Mr Feelgood landed cover briefly before McCarthy attacked again and applied serious pressure.

The first half was covered in 30.9 and 30.5 seconds.

Mr Feelgood and Melpark Major went stride for stride as they entered the back straight for the final time whilst recent Miracle Mile winner Smoken Up commenced a three wide solo run.

The pressure was extreme off the back with the third quarter posted in 28.1 seconds and Mr Feelgood quickly raced away from Melpark Major whilst Smoken Up was also feeling the pinch.

McCarthy kicked as they entered the home straight and set up a big lead on his rivals.

At the line, Mr Feelgood held off the closing finishing bursts of The Sleepy Tripp and the unlucky Im Themightyquinn who stormed from near last after being caught up behind tiring runners.

The last quarter was timed in a brilliant 27.3 seconds.

Victory was sweet for McCarthy who registered his maiden Victoria Cup success whilst his father John won the event back in 2005 with Be Good Johnny when held at Moonee Valley.

“This is absolutely awesome, he's a very special horse,” McCarthy beamed.

“I'm very grateful for Kevin and Kay plus Peter for giving me a chance to train him, I'm loving every moment with him.”

Owners Kevin and Kay Seymour watched the event from Albion Park whilst Peter O'Shea listened via the mobile phone after touching down in London moments earlier.

Mr Feelgood has now claimed the Inter Dominion, Hunter Cup, Queensland Championship and Victoria Cup since being exported whilst he won the time honoured Little Brown Jug in Delaware as a 3yo and clearly ranks as the greatest dual hemisphere pacer to race on these shores.

Mr Feelgood now shares the lead on the Barastoc Grand Circuit leaderboard with New Zealand champion Monkey King who have both won two major events this season.
