Leading reinsman Chris Voak looks set to further entrench himself in the top two on the WA Drivers Premiership standings, with strong chances over the next two nights.
Retravision-Fremantle Cup placegetter Pinny Tiger headlines Voak’s drive over the two nights, having drawn barrier one in the TABtouch-Narrogin Cup (2662m).
The Michael Brennan-trained pacer looks set to get an opportunity to lead the $35,000 event and will likely have the in-form Lavra Joe parked outside him.
While Voak elected to sit behind Jumpingjackmac in the Fremantle Cup, he said he expected to be leading tomorrow night.
“That’s the way the race looks to play out,” Voak told TABradio.
“He (Brennan) text me after the draws and thought the horse was getting better.
“If he can produce a run like his last two, especially at a track like Narrogin, it favours horses on the rail.”
Pinny Tiger is the $1.38 TABtouch favourite, while Lavra Joe is rated a $2.65 chance.
Voak looks set to enter the Narrogin meeting in winning form, with two live chances at the end of tonight’s Gloucester Park meeting.
He teams up with Storm The Beach in the Perth’s #1 Station Nova 93.7 Pace (2130m).
Storm The Beach was beaten 12m by the talented Mister Smartee in last week’s 4YO&5YO Championship (2130m).
Despite another tough barrier draw, Voak said he expected Storm The Beach to show his class tonight.
“He gave a great account of himself last start from the bad draw,” he said.
“I think he probably picks himself in this type of race.”
Exciting two-year-old Highview Heidi makes her return in the Download The TABtouch App Pace (1730m) tonight, her first start since winning at Gloucester Park in March.
Like Storm The Beach, Highview Heidi has to overcome a wide barrier draw in the event.
Voak said he expected a bold showing first-up from the filly.
“She did trial well and felt terrific,” he said.
“It’s still a competitive race.
“She will have to be at her best to overcome the draw, but the way she trialled she will certainly be in the finish.”
Tonight’s Gloucester Park meeting gets underway at 5.26.
