The Claremont Cricket Club and the Knights Cricket Club both host their season launch at the Tasmanian Trotting Club’s eight-race card in Hobart on Friday night.

Driver Dylan Ford sits fourth on the state drivers’ premiership this season with 44 wins, and he has six drives at the meeting, most with each-way claims, including Our Ruby Rose, who lines up in the Dave Webster Pace for horses rated up to 49 over 2090m.

The daughter of Shadyshark Hanover has finished runner-up at her last two outings, both of which have been on the Hobart track.

“She is my best chance,” said Ford.

“She is racing very consistently,” he added.

The mare has drawn barrier five, which isn’t a big concern for the driver.

“There looks to be a bit of gate speed inside her, but she has enough gate speed to put herself in the right position to be competitive again,” Ford said.

Ford acknowledged it was an open race but did rate two runners when asked who the hardest to beat were.

“Starofremembrance is racing consistently, and I think Ranieri is racing well,” he said.

Since her last start second behind Sharkbite Alto (who has won since), Our Ruby Rose had a standing start trial on 18 September in Hobart.

“She went to re-qualify from a stand and get her ready for Burnie,” said Ford, with the coastal track hosting two race meetings in October on the 13th and 27th.

Our Ruby Rose is trained by Tammy Langley, who leads the state’s female trainers; premiership with 28 wins at a strike rate of 14%.

Friday evening’s meeting commences with a $14,000 maiden for the two-year-olds at 17:36 and will be shown on TasracingTV and Sky Racing 2.
