Hobart held the sole Tasmanian harness race meeting last weekend, which saw Ben Yole extend his lead on the Tasmanian and Australian premiership, training four of the 10 winners, the only trainer to record multiple wins on the program.
The Launceston Show isn’t until 12-14 October, but the first harness meeting in the state for October is in Launceston on Sunday, featuring the Show Cup.
On Friday, the Tasmanian Trotting Club stage an eight-race card with the Claremont Cricket Club and the Knights Cricket Club hosting their season launch at the meeting.
The Stars
Cool Water Paddy – ended a run of outs to take out the Free For All in Hobart on Sunday. The seven-year-old gelding was able to lead all the way and just hold on for his 18th career win, with 11 of those victories being on the Hobart circuit.
Gordievsky Leis – has won four races this season, all of which have been in his last four outings. He was driven by Charlie Castles, who demonstrated his sporting talents the day before, kicking four goals in the Devonport Grand Final win over Burnie in the N.W.F.A.
Whey Better – has been racing well in recent starts, and she proved too good for her rivals when scoring in a rating 57 to 59 event to record her 11th career win.
Kenya – after being narrowly beaten the start prior, the Art Major gelding was able to score his fourth win of the season and was one of four winners on the program for trainer Ben Yole.
Sharkbite Alto – recorded back-to-back victories after another dominant display.
