Frith, one of Bernie Kelly's Group 1 winners.

It has been a while since multiple Group 1 winning trainer Bernie Kelly has trained a winner.

Two years in fact.

However, the 85-year-old mentor will be trying to change that today when he starts Nicholas Harris at Riverina Paceway.

The three-year-old is the only horse Kelly has started this year and the gelding broke gait at his debut start on July 29.

After driving the gelding in a recent trial, reinsman Jonah Hutchinson will take the reins behind Nicholas Harris.

After slowing down in numbers, Kelly only had 14 starters last season.

His last winner was Smiling at Riverina Paceway in October 2020.

Kelly has trained 409 winners since electronic records have been kept and 10 Group 1 winners.

The iForm best bets for Friday:

Newcastle next best

Race 8: Playboy Shadow (6)

Can be prominent after a brave Newcastle defeat eleven days ago.

Around the tracks

Wagga best bet

Race 8: Wild Imagination (3)

Tough mare that can land straight on the speed and prove too tough.

Parkes best bet

Race 6: Nicolescruiser (1)

Gets an ideal draw in a race that looks devoid of winning hopes.
