Top young driver Jack Callaghan will not be driving Group 1 winning pacer Spirit Of St Louis at Albion Park on Saturday night.

The 20-year-old has driven the Belinda McCarthy-trained pacer in his last six starts that included wins in the Bendigo, Shepparton and Ballarat Cups as well as the Schweppes Sprint and a second in the Miracle Mile.

“Luke McCarthy will drive him this Saturday and I’ll fly up to Queensland in a couple of weeks to drive him in main feature races,” said Callaghan.

Instead the reinsman has opted to stay in Sydney where he has seven drives at Menangle.

Callaghan also has a busy night at Newcastle tonight driving in eight of the 10 races.

The iForm best bets for Friday:

Newcastle best bet

Race 6: Art Tutor (8)

Well performed last campaign and might prove hard to stop following a stylish Menangle trial.

Newcastle next best

Race 10: Three Chord Riff (7)

Despite patchy form before a layoff can be prominent trialling okay since.

Around the tracks

Wagga best bet

Race 5: Pas Guarantee (7)

Brings good form lines from Victoria and might be too classy.
