Trainer Mike Reed will be hoping Caveman can salvage something from tomorrow night’s Gloucester Park meeting, after he was forced to scratch both his mares from the WASBA-Breeders Stakes (2130m).
Reed withdrew both Tiffany Rose and defending champion Arma Indie this afternoon due to the pair being in season.
Tiffany Rose had barrier one for the $50,000 feature and Reed was bullish of a forward showing from the good draw.
The Henley Brook trainer said he was particularly worried about Tiffany Rose running while in season, given she performed poorly when she was in season late last campaign.
Reed’s hopes of a Group 2 win on the card now rests with Caveman in the Rock N Roll World At Allwood Stud 4YO APG Consolation Final (2130m).
Caveman has drawn barrier two, with two favourites Poisedtopounce and Mirragon either side of him in barrier one and three respectively.
Reed said he would leave it to his son and reinsman Mark what he does from the draw.
“I think Mark has to watch when the blue light goes on because Poisedtopounce can go a little bit rough in the score up,” he told TABradio.
“If he’s not there he will come out but if he’s there I don’t think he can cross him so he will be in behind him.”
Mirragon was too good for the same six rivals in the heat of the APG 4YO Final on April 20, ahead of Poisedtopounce and Valentines Brook.
Caveman was fifth on that occasion.
Altas Angel will now start from barrier one in the Breeders Stakes, while Westburn Yield will start from barrier nine.
Tomorrow night’s Gloucester Park meeting gets underway at 5.10.
