SOUTH Australian horsewoman Kim Procter is hoping for a happy homecoming of sorts this weekend.

Relocating to Victoria earlier this year, Procter left Wings On Her Feet in the care of her father, Jeff, with one target in mind.

At Globe Derby tomorrow night, Procter has the opportunity to realise her dream when the trotter contests a Southern Cross Final.

Initially planning to be trackside to watch Wings On Her Feet compete in the feature, Procter will be limited to viewing the race via television.

“She stayed with Dad with this race in mind, so it is wonderful to have her in it,” Procter said.

“I desperately wanted to be there on the night and in the weeks leading up to it I was constantly monitoring interstate travel restrictions in hope.

“It’s just not meant to be, but I will be cheering her on, and if she happens to win, they will probably hear me all the way from Melton.”

Finishing fourth at her two starts, Wings On Her Feet is among the outsiders at $41 with TAB Fixed Odds from barrier eight.

Undefeated gelding My Used To Me is at the top of the market at $1.70.

Winner of his three starts for astute trainer Jill Neilson, My Used To Me has drawn to lead throughout from gate four.

“I can understand why she would be that price, but I don’t think it is accurate given the way she has been working,” Jeff said.

“She has beaten the favourite at the trials, the difference is he has taken it to the race where she hasn’t at this stage.

“After her last start when she led before galloping I’ve had the muscle manipulator go over her twice and her work since has been terrific.

“The manipulator got out any sore spots and now she is going as straight as a die.

“She’s got the ability and speed, now we just need her to put it all together tomorrow night.”
