A rare opportunity to purchase a very close relation to Australasia’s champion racemare Captain’s Mistress awaits buyers at the Australian Pacing Gold Sydney yearling sale at Warwick Farm on Sunday.

It is Lot 242, a bay colt by the standout American racehorse and sire Captaintreacherous out the Bettor’s Delight mare Revere Me NZ, a daughter of the Oaks winner and dual NZ Broodmare of the Year Scuse Me.

His pedigree abounds with million dollar earners, 1:50 performers and Group 1 stars.

Revere Me’s half-sister Imagine Me is the dam of the 2024 NZ Broodmare of the Year Imaginary Bet (by Bettor’s Delight), who ranks as the mother of Captain’s Mistress and the multiple Group 1 winner and millionaire pacer Merlin.

Imagine Me is a full sister to Splendid Dreams, dam of the millionaires Our Dream About Me and the Hunter Cup, Victoria Cup and Miracle Mile winner Christen Me, and a half-sister to the full siblings Adore Me 1:47.7, $1.6 million (by Bettor’s Delight) and the Miracle Mile winner Have Faith In Me 1:47.5, $2 million (by Bettor’s Delight).

She has won 14 races – eight at Group level – from 24 starts and has broken the 1:50 barrier on three occasions.

The four-year-old has lowered her colours only once in 10 appearances on Australian soil and is undefeated in six starts this season highlighted by commanding successes in the Group 1 $250,000 Chariots of Fire at Menangle and the Group 1 $150,000 Queen of the Pacific at Melton.

Revere Me, dam of Lot 242, figures as the dam of three 2:00 winners headed up by the exported Sugar Me 1:50.8 ($177,000) and the grand-dam of the Bathurst Gold Crown runner-up My Ultimate Barney 1:51.4 ($160,000).

The colt is being consigned by tyro breeders Todd and Tori McMillan, of Emerald Park Performance Horses, Tamworth and is being prepared by Medowie Lodge studmaster Darren Reay.

“He’s a strongly built colt and a very good type. He’s got a good work ethic,” Reay said.
