Young Goulburn horsewoman Emma Day is justifiably feeling positive about the Australian Pacing Gold Sydney Yearling Sale at Warwick Farm on Sunday, March 15. Looking to capatalise on her success a few weeks ago at the APG Melbourne sale, she has another great line up for Sydney this weekend.

“I’m preparing six yearlings – two colts and four fillies – for four different clients and they’re all nice in their own way,” Emma said.

Among the Day offering is a pair of superbly bred colts for well known Victorian breeder and long-time APG supporter Lyndon Turner.

Lot 233 is a colt from the first crop of the North America Cup and Breeders Crown champion Pebble Beach, the 2022 USA and Canadian 3YO Colt of the Year.

The colt belongs to a family with a very high strike rate, with his first three dams leaving 25 foals for 18 winners between them. They include the APG Final winner Laconic and the juvenile classic winners Abbreviated and Laconic Jamane.

“He’s a strong, athletic, good natured colt who shapes as an early goer,” Emma said.

The other colt from the Turner draft is Lot 222, a product of Bettor’s Delight’s four-time Group 1 winning son Ultimate Machete from the grand producer Misty Forever, a granddaughter of the champion NZ race and broodmare Ar Miss.

Misty Forever figures as the dam of nine winners headed up by the Paleface Adios Classic winner Miss Moneybags and the grand-dam of the QBred Triad victor Lady Digby.

“He’s a good sized colt who’s got a good temperament and great movement,” Day stated.

Stephen Morrison, a board member of Club Menangle and a long-time sponsor of NSW harness racing, has a single entry in Lot 256, an American Ideal filly from the celebrated Zenover family in New Zealand.

She’s the first foal of a 1:55 Sweet Lou half-sister to the Group 3 winner Rocket Boy and the prolific Menangle and Albion Park winner Zenxena, being out of the dual Group 3 victor Zenable.

“She’s a typical American Ideal. Great natured, a good mover and easy to do anything with,” Day said.

Lot 245, a filly by the three-time Horse of the Year and Miracle Mile winner King Of Swing out of the noted ‘Special’ family in Queensland, looks certain to have plenty of admirers.

Consigned by Stephen Wyles’ Solotrek group in Tasmania, the filly is out of the QBred Triad 2YO winner Special Moment, the mother of three winners from three foals including the Queensland 4YO Championship victor Sumomentsomewhere 1:50.4 and herself a sister to the dual QBred Triad winner Bettorthanspecial.

“She’s a good sized filly, is a great mover and easy going,” Day commented.

Lot 203, consigned by Emma Day’s mother Kirsty, is a daughter of last year’s leading first crop sire Bettor’s Wish and is the only filly by the sire of the newly crowned Australian 2YO Filly of the Year Wishing Belle at the Sydney sale.

Incendio NZ, the dam of the filly, has thrown five winners from six starters and all five have emerged successful as two-year-olds. They include the recent WA Lord Mayor’s Cup winner Rolling Fire and the Central Victorian Pacing Championship winner Krafty Bart.

“She’s a strong filly who’s got a bit of spirit and is a fantastic mover,” Day said.

Completing Emma Day’s draft is a stunning filly as Lot 282, transferred over from the Melbourne Sale. She is a Soho Tribeca half-sister to four sub 2:00 performers including the Victoria Youthful Stakes winner Drain The Swamp ($280,000), now racing successfully in America.

The filly’s dam, Vickymurphy, is a Bettor’s Delight half-sister to the APG 2YO winner Same Old Macray and the dual Vicbred champion Dee En Ay Macray.
