Hopeland horsewoman Debbie Lewis is a dab hand at preparing yearlings for the annual sales. A member of one of Western Australia's best known harness racing families, Debbie is prepping 11 youngsters for the Australian Pacing Gold Perth Yearling Sale at Magic Millions on Sunday, March 1.

Six of the Hollywood Park draft are from the Albany-based Peter Capararo’s Adda Equine.

Lewis is also preparing a pair of fillies – both first foals - by the champion sire Always B Miki, one for Ross Olivieri and Jemma Hayman’s Jemross Racing Trust and the other for husband Chris and herself.

Lot 427, out of the $130,000 winner Run For Mercy, is closely related to the recent dual Gloucester Park winner Pete’s Honour, the Western Crown and Dainty’s Daughter Classic winner Rumour Has It, the Group 2 NSW winner Brooklyn Bridge (1:49.4) and the WA Oaks placegetter Loving You.

“She’s a beautiful big, tall filly,” Debbie stated.

The second Always B Miki filly is Lot 364, a lovely filly from the Somebeachsomewhere mare Ponzi Beach, a half-sister to the Vicbred Super Series heat winner Imnopumpkin and the Group placegetters Control The Room and The Swindler.

The Lewis Team also includes two fillies by Australia’s current leading sire Sweet Lou.

The first is Lot 313, a half-sister to five sub 2:00 winners, four $100,000 earners and three Group winners including Slick Artist ($404,000), Acharne Girl and While They Pray. She is being offered by prominent Perth owner-breeder Gary Ralston.

The other Sweet Lou filly is Louminous, Lot 413, a daughter of the $90,000 winning Somebeachsomewhere mare Just Makemine Diamonds and a granddaughter of the Breeders Crown and Vicbred Finals placegetter Art Shadow. The filly is being consigned by Luke and Jodie Gossage, who raced her dam.

Lot 406, a filly by the emerging siring force Downbytheseaside and the first foal of the $80,000 winning Bettor’s Delight mare Alcippes Delight NZ, completes the offering from Hollywood Park. Consigned by JJA Bloodstock, Alcippes Delight’s first three dams have left 35 foals for 24 winners including the Group 2 WA San Simeon winner Socrates and the NZ Derby winner Badlands Bute.

“She’s an outstanding filly,” Lewis said.
