Albury will take the spotlight on Friday night when the border city hosts the fourth leg of the current TAB Carnival Of Cups series.

The progressive Club is renowned for attracting big crowds for its feature meetings, and yet again are preparing for what is certain to be a record-breaking crowd.

The free ticketed event will feature first class pacing action as well as a fine line-up of musical acts that include legendary music icon Jon Stevens, Boom Crash Opera and Taxiride which will be supported by local talent Liam Dalby and Lucey.

Star Goulburn pacer Captains Knock is heading to Albury in a bid to secure his second bonus incentive for the Carnival of Cups in the $60,000 TAB Murray Cup.

The stallion has been nothing short of superb in winning the Cup features at Wagga, Newcastle, and Bathurst and despite drawing the back line against a handy field on Friday night he is likely to start at short odds to capture the $500,000 Bonus.

Trainer-driver Brad Hewitt is extremely happy with the way his horse has trained on from his last outing at Bathurst a fortnight ago and is confident his pacer is ready to give his best at Albury.

“He is in good shape, and bounced back well from the Bathurst run,” said Hewitt.

“It is a reasonably strong field at Albury as you would expect for $60,000 feature.

“Hopefully from his second line draw we can get our fair share of luck, and with all things being equal he should be the horse to beat.”

Leading into Friday night’s Carnival meeting, the Albury committee has put in an almighty effort to prepare for one of the biggest nights in the Club’s history.

Club president Paul Brown is excited in the lead up to carnival night, saying he cannot wait to see it all unfold.

“Everything points towards it being a huge night,” said Brown.

“I cannot thank the many people who have helped us put this all together and am champing at the bit for it all to start.

“We are so fortunate in Albury that the community gets right behind our feature meetings, and numbers that have already registered for their free ticket are promising.”

Anyone intending to head out to the Albury is encouraged to register via the website www.carnivalofcups.com.au
