Cranbourne – Sunday, 8 February 2026

OVERVIEW: FREAK OUT (3) went close to winning at Melton two runs ago and the form out of that race has stood up well, with both the winner and third placegetter winning since. He can show speed from this draw and, back to a track that suits on-pace runners, he will take catching.
FEEL THE BUZZ (4) comes through similar form lines and has been solid, maps well from the draw and has claims. PICKLE IT (9) goes well at this track and can punch through from the back row to land in a suitable position before unleashing one run late. ALPHA CRUCIS (10) is a veteran who finds a more suitable assignment but is usually better served from a front-row draw.

SELECTIONS: FREAK OUT (3), FEEL THE BUZZ (4), PICKLE IT (9), ALPHA CRUCIS (10)

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: BULLETPROOF KID (9) is fitter now, third-up from a spell, and has been racing in much tougher company than he meets here. He moves to the front row, can show good gate speed, and should race handy and be strong late.
JILLIBY SELWOOD (1) hasn’t won for a while but draws ideally to use his speed and map into a soft run, with Chris Alford aboard a clear positive. LENARD ESS (3) is a veteran with a liking for this track and gets his best draw for some time, making him an improver. KORENGAL VALLEY (7) broke his maiden with a good drive last time, will be fitter again, but has a tricky draw to overcome.

BACK: BULLETPROOF KID (9) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: BULLETPROOF KID (9), JILLIBY SELWOOD (1), LENARD ESS (3), KORENGAL VALLEY (7)

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: DOSIER (6) invariably improves sharply when dropping back in class, as evidenced by her dominant Melton win three runs ago. She can slide across with what looks to be genuine speed engaged early, has a strong strike rate at this track, and is generally reliable in her gait.
SPIRITED LASS (8) has improved her manners over her past couple and, when she gets things right, has ability. RARITY ROCK (3) was a winner three runs back when able to lead all the way and a repeat of that effort keeps him in the mix. LEANNE LEEANN (5) is an honest trier and often thereabouts in races of this nature.

BACK: DOSIER (6) – 3 units (win)

SELECTIONS: DOSIER (6), SPIRITED LASS (8), RARITY ROCK (3), LEANNE LEEANN (5)

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: HILLWINSOME (8) has been disappointing at his past two, but he is capable of much better based on earlier form, including a win four runs ago against similar opposition. He maps to receive a soft run behind a likely speed runner and, with the right luck, can improve sharply.
AT THE DISTANCE (5) is often tricky to map and his success is tempo-related, but he was well-backed two runs ago when finishing a solid second. AGAINST THE BRIDLE (4) his stablemate, has good early gate speed and has claims at this level. MASIF CENTRAL (1) improved sharply last time when able to lead and similar tactics are expected again over the short trip.

SELECTIONS: HILLWINSOME (8), AT THE DISTANCE (5), AGAINST THE BRIDLE (4), MASIF CENTRAL (1)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: ROLINGINTHEDEEP (7) is hard to ignore chasing a hat-trick at the track, including his last-start metro win where he broke the track record over the mile. He’s best suited with a sit, so the draw is not overly concerning if the tempo is right early.
FIRE MARSHALL (6) may not boast strong numerical form but has been racing in tougher company and can improve with added fitness. OOH AH LISTAH (3) was well supported last time, found the lead, but went off stride shortly after - he’s nearing a win. CALYPSO MISTRESS (1) can mix her form but has good gate speed and draws ideally.

BACK: ROLINGINTHEDEEP (7) – 2 units (win)

SELECTIONS: ROLINGINTHEDEEP (7), FIRE MARSHALL (6), OOH AH LISTAH (3), CALYPSO MISTRESS (1)

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: LE GASTON (4) has been threatening to break through in much stronger company than he meets here. His only miss from the podium came last start when he carried a flat tyre. He’s not a sharp beginner but should land a nice spot from the favourable draw and be hard to beat.
ELLEEGANT LANE (1) finds a suitable race and draw, dropping in class where his recent times stack up strongly. OHANA BY THE SEA (2) comes through similar form lines and has good gate speed to secure a favourable position. HURRICANE HOOLY (5) faces a tricky map but has previously performed well at this track.

BACK: LE GASTON (4) – 3 units (win)

SELECTIONS: LE GASTON (4), ELLEEGANT LANE (1), OHANA BY THE SEA (2), HURRICANE HOOLY (5)

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: We finish with the 1145m hot lap. SHIRALEE (2) has been better than her numerical form suggests since arriving in Victoria, often contending with difficult draws over the short trip. Not covering extra ground here is a major plus.
SHAZZA LOVE (3) is a quick beginner and can improve on recent efforts in what looks a more suitable assignment. BONA KHAN (1) has won under these one-lap conditions previously and should get a good run from the pegs. SPUN SILVER (5) has been forced to work hard at recent starts and hasn’t been far away, including a placing under these conditions three runs ago.

SELECTIONS: SHIRALEE (2), SHAZZA LOVE (3), BONA KHAN (1), SPUN SILVER (5)
