BATHURST horseman Nathan Turnbull has sethis sights ongaining a slot in the $2.1m TAB Eureka for his stable star Glitter Aint Gold.

Four of the 10 spots have been secured with slotholders Soho Standardbreds locking in Bay Of Biscay, John Singleton claiming Hesitate, Racing Queensland's Hayden winner Call To Order and TasRacing naming Fighter Command.

With the September 6 race date closing in rapidly, owners and trainers of potential runnersare pushing hard to make a case for their respective three and four-year-olds.

While Glitter Aint Gold has not won since capturing the State Regional Championships Final at Tabcorp Park Menangle on May 24, he performed well in his Queensland campaign.

The gelding has been ultra-consistent since joining Turnbull’s stable midway through 2024, purchased by stable clients Dale Smith and Rodney Edgerton from Young.

His 18 starts for the new connections resulted in him winning eight races, that included the Western Regional Championship final at Bathurst.

Turnbull is adamant that the son of Bling It On has already proven worthy of consideration for the Eureka, which is harness racing’s richest event worldwide.

“We would love him to gain a start in the race,” said Turnbull.

“These rich and prestigious races do not come along every day, and the experience of just competing in a Eureka would be unreal.

“Glitter Aint Gold has been a fantastic addition to our stable and is a lovely horse to handle.

“When Dale and Rodney asked would I train the horse for them after they bought him, I jumped at the opportunity, and he has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months.

“My son Jett, who is his regular driver, gets on so well with him.

“And the Queensland campaign, racing in strong company over the carnival, has brought him on nicely as a racehorse.

“We will simply pick out some suitable races for him over the next few weeks and from there it will be up to him and Jett to prove to the slotholders that he is worthy of selection."
