Proud Price chasing more glory

IT almost felt like a win to Shannon Price.

Two finalists and a second placing in her hometown Brisbane Inter Dominion final is quite an achievement from a 17-horse stable.

“You always go there hoping you can win, but nobody knows better than us how hard it is to beat Leap To Fame. Speak The Truth has spent half his life chasing him,” Price said.

“We’d love to have caused an upset, but second to Leap To Fame is a win in itself.

“We’re so proud of them both and Speak The Truth tried so hard.”

Sure Thing Captain was also far from disgraced back in eighth spot from a wide back row draw in a race totally dominated by on-pace runners and those racing against the marker pegs.

“Speak The Truth made the final here back in 2023 and I hoped to get one or both in this time,” Price said.

Price also won three of the six heats in the series with her pair, which is amazing considering Leap To Fame won another two.

It was a great series for Queensland.

Price's pair will stay in work and chase more feature races in coming months.

“Yes, especially with Leap To Fame having a break and probably going over to NZ, we’ll get a chance in some races without him,” she said.

“There’s the Len Smith Mile (September 6) on TAB Eureka night. I think I’ll take both down for that.

“Then the Victoria Cup is in October (18). With Leap To Fame missing that, we’ll take one or both down for that as well.”
