At the Racing WA awards on Saturday night, champion trainer Gary Hall Snr was presented with Harness Racing Australia’s Distinguished Service Award.

The award is to acknowledge “Important Achievement, Substantive Effort, Enterprise, Endeavour, Creativity and Professional Excellence on a National or State Basis over a long period of time”.

Hall Snr certain fits all criteria.

Gary Hall Snr has been training for over four decades. In that time, he has amassed over 3560 career training wins, the most ever by a WA trainer and almost 1000 wins more than his closest rival, dominating the Gloucester Park premiership for two decades. He has won a staggering 61 Group One wins.

Hall Snr has won our greatest race, the Inter Dominion three times, including wins in NSW and New Zealand away from his home track. At Gloucester Park he has won a record 13 WA Pacing Cups and nine Fremantle Cups.

  • 13 x WA Pacing Cups
