Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) Stewards conducted an Inquiry yesterday into a report received from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that naproxen had been detected in the post-race blood sample taken from the horse PRINCESS REMI following its win in Race 7 the WTC EARTHMOVING PACE (1760 metres) at Narrabri on Sunday 7 April 2024.

The ‘B’ Sample was confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited in Victoria.

Mr Brown appeared at the Inquiry and presented evidence in relation to his registered training establishment and the horse PRINCESS REMI.

HRNSW Assistant Regulatory Veterinarian Dr Annie Knox presented evidence to the Inquiry, including that the level of naproxen detected in the subject blood sample obtained from the horse PRINCESS REMI was below a harmonised level agreed by Australian racing laboratories. Consequently, the detection of naproxen at such a level in the horse PRINCESS REMI was not considered to be a breach of the prohibited substances rules.

Having given consideration to the totality of the evidence, HRNSW Stewards determined that no action would be taken against Mr Brown or the horse PRINCESS REMI in relation to this matter.
