Former naval officer and tyro breeders Wayne Hamilton and his wife Eliza have had a successful introduction to the harness racing industry.

It is the highly promising three-year-old Cigano, a heat winner of the Nutrien Sales Classic and a finalist in the inaugural $500,000 Protostar slot race at Albion Park.

The Hunter Valley couple are offering four colts at the Australian Pacing Gold yearling sale at Warwick Farm on Sunday, February 16 including an Art Major half-brother to Cigano as Lot 210.

The colt is out of Frankincense (1:55.3), a winner of eight races including a heat of the Vicbred Super Series and a member of the same family as the Vicbred champion Rocknrolla, the Vicbred Final placegetter Aleppo Lady and the Victoria Sapling Stakes winner Nightn Georgia.

“He’s a speedy, athletic colt with a very busy personality,” preparers Gary and Louise Toulmin of Oakbank Estate said.

Lot 224 is a bay colt by the Somebeachsomewhere siring success Huntsville from an Art Major daughter of the grand producer Shoutaloud, the dam of seven 2:00 performers, six $100,000 earners and three Group winners.

They include the Bathurst Gold Chalice winner Atomic Red 1:50.3 ($422,556), Runaway Red 1:53.5 ($332,892), the Shirley Turnbull Memorial victor Smooth Baht 1:49.5 ($309,573) and Power Of Red 1:50.4 ($288,685).

“He’s a very good looking colt with an intelligent head,” Louise stated.

Wayne and Eliza’s draft also includes two colts from the debut crop of the thrice Miracle Mile winner and Horse of the Year King Of Swing 1:47.9 ($3.3 million).

The first colt is Lot 204, a bay fellow from the Safely Kept mare Burn Back (1:59.5), the dam of three sub 2:00 winners and two placegetters from five foals to race. He belongs to the same family as the inaugural APG Final winner and 2YO Colt of the Year Son Of Otara.

“He’s a big, rangy racy colt with a very kind temperament,” she said.

The other King Of Swing colt is Lot 229, the first foal of the SA Oaks runner-up Miss Iconic (by Art Major), she a half-sister to five in 2:00 including the SA Kindergarten Stakes winner  Bayview Harbour (1:57.2).

Boasting a 3x3 cross to Artplace, the very attractive colt is a member of the family of top horses the calibre of the Miracle Mile placegetter Wolf Stride 1:49.1 ($558,650), the Group 1 Westbred 2YO Classic victor To Fast To Serious (1:52.4) and Sorridere (1:55.3), runner-up in last year’s WA Golden Nugget.

“All four colts pace free-legged,” Louise added.

The two King Of Swing’s and the Huntsville are all eligible for the inaugural Cobbitty Equine Classic for two-year-olds with a $100,000 final at Menangle next year.
