New Inquiries –

  • 2 July 2024 – Mr Brian Portelli – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Metformin was detected in the post-race urine sample taken from FOXY DADA following its win in race 4, the MOTHERS DAY HIGH TEA @ CLUB PACEWAY MAY 12TH PACE (1720 metres) conducted at Penrith on Thursday 2 May 2024. The reserve portion and control solution have been confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) in Victoria.
     
  • 24 July 2024 – Mrs Kerry Towers – HRNSW Stewards have commenced an investigation in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Deferoxamine was detected in the post-race urine sample taken from EXPLOSIVE BRONSKI following its win in Race 3, TIGER TARA @ MEDOWIE LODGE PACE (1609 metres) conducted at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Tuesday 16 January 2024. The reserve portion and control solution have been sent to Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) in Victoria for confirmation.

Inquiry Concluded

  • 10 July 2024– Mr Jack Trainor – HRNSW Stewards concluded an Inquiry in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Levamisole was detected in the post-race urine sample taken from CHUBBY CHECKER NZ following its win in race 8, the EVEKARE ASSISTED LIVING PACE (1609 metres) conducted at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Tuesday 23 March 2021.
    The reserve portion and control solution were confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) in Victoria.
    Mr Trainor pleaded guilty to a charge issued by the HRNSW Stewards pursuant to Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 190 (1), (2) & (4).
    Mr Trainor was disqualified for a period of 10 months to commence immediately. 
    Acting under the provisions of AHRR 195, CHUBBY CHECKER NZ was disqualified from the abovementioned race.
    Mr Trainor has appealed the decision of the HRNSW Stewards.

Appeal Decisions –

  • 15 July 2024 – Mr Brent Berry appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to disqualify him for a period of 6 months, to be served concurrently, after he was found guilty of three (3) charges pursuant to Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 259 (1)(j) & (7) in relation to bets placed by him whilst he was a disqualified person.
    In addition, pursuant to AHRR 259A, HRNSW Stewards ordered that the original period of 2 years and 9 months disqualification imposed by HRNSW Stewards recommence in full.
    By decision of the NSW Harness Racing Appeals Tribunal Panel, the appeal was dismissed.
  • 30 July 2024 - Mr Lleyton Green appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his driver’s licence for a period of 21 days after he was found guilty of a charge issued pursuant to AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) when driving the horse BERTIE JONES NZ in Race 9 at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Tuesday 9 July 2024.
    By decision of the NSW Harness Racing Appeal Panel the appeal was dismissed.
    Mr Green has appealed this decision to the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal.

Integrity Information –

  • During the month of July 2024, HRNSW Integrity department obtained 706 race day samples.

As per normal HRNSW procedure all samples have been submitted for analysis.
