IT'S not often the only runner in the field with a victory during their last five starts is considered to be among the outsiders.

But that's the position Get Lucky finds himself in heading to tomorrow night's Globe Derby program.

Triumph at the same venue on January 27, Get Lucky's three subsequent outings have netted a pair of seconds, including last weekend's Fred Jones Trotters' Cup.

Delving further, the Mario Borg-trained trotter is one of only two entrants in the restricted class event with a win in their last 10 starts, the other being Barhoon.

Barhoon was successful eight outings ago on August 12, 2023.

Despite his exposed form, Get Lucky has been listed as the second outsider at $12 by the form assessor in the field of seven, with only Super Angus at $21 paying more

"It's a strange thing racing," Borg said. "He's going well and has good form next to his name, but that doesn't take away the ability of his opposition.

"Would I consider him effectively the second worst chance in the race, no,...do I think he should be shorter, yes, but I'm not the one doing the odds....besides, the horse doesn't know what odds he is paying!

"I will say I am very happy with the way he is racing and with his track work, so those odds could be considered very generous."

To be driven by Borg, Get Lucky will begin from barrier five over 2230 metres.

"I'm not too worried about the draw," Borg said. "In these small fields it doesn't necessarily amount to much, as no matter where you settle, you're never far off the speed.

"He's been racing regularly and is pretty fit, so Saturday night's run will keep him topped off nicely for next week's Strathalbyn Trotters' Cup."
