SA Trots - Bad Boy Carter not such a bad boy

RECENT stable acquisition Bad Boy Carter has been wrongly named according to trainer Lui Trotta.

Making the long trip to Charlton to buy the son of Vincent in mid January, the astute South Australian horseman is “wrapt” with the purchase.

Not only has Bad Boy Carter proven himself to be a “true gentlemen”, he also made a winning debut at Globe Derby last week, much to the joy of his first-time owners.

“He has settled in beautifully and I’m pretty happy with him,” Trotta said. “I was told he is quiet, that anyone can drive him and it was spot on…he is a true gentleman..

“I’ve got a new worker, Celestine Rowe, with me and she loves horses so much that I have never seen someone love horses more than her.

“Anyway, I wanted something for her to learn on, while also being a good type for new owners and he has hit the mark perfectly.

“His owners have raced greyhounds, but this is their first pacer.”

Stating the four-year-old works “has lifted again this week”, Trotta is confident Bad Boy Carter can remain unbeaten as a ‘Croweater’ when he returns to Globe Derby tonight.

To be driven by Dean Girardi, Bad Boy Carter is a $2 favourite from barrier four.

“Tonight will be a bit harder in class, but he is an improver,” Trotta said. “He hasn’t set a hoof wrong since he got here and I expect a good run from him.”
