McWicked, the world’s richest ever pacing stallion with a bankroll of $5.1million, will underpin the five-strong Cobbitty Equine Farm draft at the Australian Pacing Gold sale at Magic Millions, Gold Coast on Sunday, January 28.

It is the second time that NSW’s leading stud farm will be represented at a Queensland auction.

Ricky Thurlow, the manager of Cobbitty Equine’s farm at Stockleigh, near Logan Village, is understandably upbeat about the draft.

“I think the McWicked colt (Lot 49) out of Lindsey Effect is the pick of the colts. He’s a nice strong colt from a good family,” Thurlow said.

Lindsey Effect, who was only lightly raced, is a half-sister to the dual VicBred champion and Australian 3YO of the Year Maffioso and to the dam of the dual Breeders Crown winner Hurricane Harley and is a member of the same family as the champion racehorses and sires Western Hanover, Walton Hanover and A Rocknroll Dance.

The other colt is Lot 8, by last season’s leading WA first crop sire Rock N Roll World from the Art Major mare Blackberry Sherry, a daughter of the prolific Menangle winner Blackberry Lane (1:53).

Thurlow believes the filly by the Chariots of Fire winner Jilliby Kung Fu from the good racemare Shes A Lefty (Lot 75) is the best of the three fillies.

“She’s a nice filly with good size,” Ricky stated.

Shes A Lefty won 10 races including the QBred Triad 2YO Final and QSBA Breeders Classic and $102,396 in stakes. At the stud Shes A Lefty, a half-sister to the Queensland Derby victor Catcha Lefty, has left six winners headed up by the Paleface Adios Classic winner Left To Ponder and the Triad placegetter Left A Terror.

Cobbitty Equine is also selling a filly by McWicked from Some Berries, a Somebeachsomewhere daughter of Blackberry Lane as Lot 79, and a tall Bling It On filly (Lot 21) from a Mach Three daughter of the dual QBred Triad champion All Eyes On Me.

The Cobbitty Equine consignment are all eligible for the NSW Breeders Challenge and QBred.
