Harness Racing Australia are pleased to announce the 2023 Globe Derby Awards – proudly sponsored by IRT.

The Globe Derby Awards celebrate the sport’s leading Sires.

Bettors Delight added to his remarkable siring dominance by winning his 12 successive Leading Sire by Stakemoney Award with his progeny earnings prize money of $13,428,458.

His outstanding performers of 2023 included: Leap To Fame ($1,275,970), Diego ($514,970), Speak The Truth ($303,438), My Ultimate Ronnie ($265,391), Braeview Kelly ($253,093) and Major Delight ($219,199).

For the eighth successive season, Bettors Delight was also the leading sire of winners (346). He was also the Leading Broodmare Sire across all six categories: Overall Stakemoney, 2YO Pacing Stakemoney, 3YO Pacing Stakemoney, Overall Pacers by Winner, 2YO Pacers By Winners and 3YO Pacers by Winners.

Sweet Lou took the Juvenile Pacing Sire honours with his two and three-year-olds with 128 individual winners banking $4,244,349. The headline acts included: Sweet Bella ($199,500), Water Lou ($175,367), Never Ending ($166,956), Skylou ($138,267), Peaceful ($111,438) and Nyack ($101,969).

Additionally, Sweet Lou took out 3YO Pacers by Stakemoney honours with $3,103,604.

Art Major had a renaissance by securing the Leading Sire of 2YO Pacers by Stakemoney at $1,527,936.

In trotting ranks, Alabar Farms’ Majestic Son landed his eighth successive Leading Sire of Trotters by Stakemoney title with $2,686,232. His star performers included: Majestic Trio ($123,754), Plymouth Chubb ($94,200) and Superinspice ($82,824).
