Bathurst driver Nathan Turnbull will be on a special mission at Parkes tonight, aiming to win the race named in his honour.

The 40-year-old horseman will drive Bling The Luck in the Nathan Turnbull Leading Trainer/Driver Pace.

Turnbull had a career best season last year driving 132 winners plus 117 victories as a trainer.

This included his first Group 1 win following the success of Better Be The Best in the NSW Breeders Challenge Blue Final.

The new season has started just as well for Turnbull, where he has already netted 15 wins, giving him a winning strike rate of 33 per cent.

It was a Parkes in 2021 that Turnbull reached the milestone of driving 500 winners.

He heads to that track tonight with five drives, including on two pacers he trains himself.

Turnbull is fresh from training a treble at Junee on Tuesday night.
