Further enhancements have been made to the QBRED scheme following Thursday’s announcement by Racing Queensland that a further $5 million in prize money will be injected into the state’s harness racing code.

The enhancements to the QBRED scheme are:

  • The addition of a third win bonus ($3,000) with eligibility restricted to 4YO and 5YO State-Bred QBREDs each season (from 2023 onwards). The QBRED horse must be foaled in Queensland and meet the QBRED eligibility criteria of a 'Queensland Based Mare QBRED' or 'Transitional QBRED';
  • 2YO and 3YO Pacing Triads increased to $150,000;
  • 4YO Pacing Triads increased to $75,000; and
  • 2YO and 3YO trotting features increased to $50,000.

These benefits will be introduced during the 2023 racing season.

The QBRED brochure and Terms and Conditions for 2023 have been updated to reflect these enhancements. Click here for more information.

In addition, general stakes were increased by $2.7 million, feature races by $1 million and drivers' fees raised to $75 per drive.  Click here for further detail on the increases.
