RACE 6 – ALDEBARAN PARK TRUE ROMAN TROTTERS FREE FOR ALL (GROUP 3) (2240 MS)

James Herbertson, driver of Nephew Of Sonoko pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for contributing to interference. The particulars of the charge being that rounding the first turn near the 1900m Mr Herbertson permitted Nephew Of Sonoko to be eased and shift outwards from a position on the marker peg line when insufficiently clear of Royal Charlotte causing that mare to suffer interference when being checked and breaking gait, which in turn caused Im Ready Jet to be inconvenienced and trot roughly. In assessing penalty in accordance with the HRV Minimum Penalty Guidelines, Stewards considered Mr Herbertson’s guilty plea, exceptional driving record under the applicable rule (Last offence December 2019, more than 3800 drives), his high driving frequency, degree of carelessness, degree of interference and the circumstances of the incident.
