Some of the state’s best two-year-olds will clash in Friday night’s Catalano Truck & Equipment 2YO Pace (2130m) at Gloucester Park.

Golden Slipper winner Mighty Ronaldo makes his much-anticipated return to racing in the opening event on the card, where he will line up against the red-hot Lavra Joe.

The Justin Prentice-trained Mighty Ronaldo overcame a wide draw to take out July’s Golden Nugget and will start from barrier 10 on return as the only runner on the back row.

Lavra Joe will have to overcome barrier seven, having been placed at his two most recent starts, while Our Shelley Beach has drawn barrier one.

Mighty Ronaldo’s stablemate El Chema has drawn barrier six, while El Daytona and Sugar Street also look to have solid claims in barrier two and four respectively.

The Catalano Trucks Christmas Gift (2130m) is the feature event on the card and has attracted a stellar field.

Vivere Damore, Twentynine Twelve and Blue Blazer all won at Gloucester Park last week and have drawn barrier two, three and four respectively.

To Fast To Serious, off the back of three runs in Free-For-All company, has drawn barrier five and looks set to play a major part in the $50,000 feature.

WA Derby winner Patronus Star will be out to keep his unbeaten record in WA intact when he starts from barrier eight.

The Greg and Skye Bond-trained pacer looks destined to play a major role in February’s Golden Nugget and the four-year-old features in the lead up.

The Catalano Trucks – Sales Service Finance Pace is the Free-For-All event of the evening and Lord Mayors Cup winner Mighty Conqueror is the headline act of the 11 horse field.

Mighty Conqueror will have to overcome barrier nine if he’s to make it two wins in seven days, while stablemates Galactic Star, Vampiro and Our Jimmy Johnstone have barrier six, 10 and 11 respectively.

Argyle Red, who was placed in the Lord Mayors Cup, has drawn barrier one again, while Bletchley Park has barrier two.

RWWA Cup winner Perfect Major is another headline act on the evening when he lines up from barrier six in the Catalano Trucks Kenwick Pace (2130m).

The 10 race card gets underway at 5.40 on Friday evening.
