Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) have made the decision to abandon tonight’s race meeting at Gloucester Park.

Today Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) reported they had established that a participant at the Penrith meeting held on Thursday, 19 March had been in contact with a person now confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19.

HRNSW has suspended racing in that state pending the outcome of its investigations, including contact tracing.

As a precautionary measure, RWWA has decided to suspend tonight’s race meeting at Gloucester Park while we investigate the implications for any Western Australian personnel who may have subsequently come into contact with at-risk individuals.

Harness Racing Victoria have also decided to suspend tonight’s race meeting at Bendigo as a precautionary measure.
